2350lbs
Man,I'm just trying to be logical here.Would it cost you more??. Sure it would. But have you ever thought about how fast you would go with the same drive train in a 2350lb roller car??. Same investment in the drive train, but just a much light car and as a bonus fewer broken parts too.Going lighter is the cheapest way to go fast.NO Doubt about it.
Oh here is the other part that is soooooo kewl.Do some minor improvements in good priced parts, use them for a yr and then sell it again as a roller keeping your drive train for another roller.Just freshen up your engine for the next season.

Well, this is thirdgen.org so most people here have thirdgen's and a 2350 lb raceweight is out of the question unless you really tear the car down. Obviously alot of us in the drag section want to go fast, but we also are on a thirdgen website so we'd like to go fast in the cars we love.

Greggy-that depends on what you define as a Thirdgen.Certainly there are tube frame rollers with Thirdgen bodies on them.Wouldn't that classify them as Thirdgens??.

Tube frame rollers are not cheap. That would be Ideal if your a bracket racer. I would take my car over any tube roller unless it was from Jerry Haas or Bickel Plus most of the cars here are street legal and get street miles put on them. Don't see many fiberglass tube cars on the street.

You're not going to get a production car down to 2350. If you want something that light, you start from scratch and build a complete tube chassis car. People complain about the cost of back halving a production car. A tube chassis car is out of reach for the typical bracket racer.

I've seen rollers not needing much being sold at not much more than the costs of back hafting a car.A apart of that is not having to accommodate the car your back hafting.
I know you know with your power train you would have a killer combo with a light car.
Guys tube framed Thirdgens when pulling into the staging lights get announced as the yr and type of car too.How about your running in the 12's now and sold off you car as a roller and over the winter without changing anything but cars.Suddenly same power train your this spring running a 10.90 or even a 9.90 car.

If I wanted to go much faster, I'd drop my drivetrain into an altered for a lot less money than a tube chassis car. I wouldn't even bother with a door car.
Theoretical ET if my engine was in a 2350 pound vehicle would be 8.3's. Probably even faster at lower altitude tracks.

Re: 2350lbs
1gary does have a point regarding power to weight, I feel I always enjoyed an advantage with my first thirdgen because it weighted 3050 lbs minus driver, and it was aerodynamic compared to a lot of other cars at the track.
2350 is pretty light though.

Re: 2350lbs
Oh man.You have to really pull out names of Pro-Stock tube frame builders to make your point??. Ask yourself how many times you have seen a roller in a ad that said comes with a title and is street legal??. I'll tell I have seen that plenty of times. WHY don't you cut the love affair with a boat anchor wt car and step out into the light??. As far as costs,I have seen tons of good cars that needed minor work to finish go cheap.

I pulled those names out to prove that I like my car and will stick with it before going to a tube chassis car. My car on 10" slicks can compete with and out react most of the big tire light cars that run my class all day. I just like the stock suspension street car look as to a tubbed out car with lexan foggy windows and sheet metal interior. Outlaw Test and Tune doesnt pay anything. It's all about having a car that suites your needs, not being the lightest and fastest.

Re: 2350lbs
he doesn't need a 1.27 or less 60' time for the class he's in to be competitive.
do more research on x275...folks going 1.1x 60's on a 275/60/15 is commonplace nowadays...
you were doing so good till this post...why do you continue to talk to us as an authority figure? we have no respect for you man...you still haven't posted a single picture of any of the stuff you have done. GTFO!!!!!
