Improvment on 1/4 time???

Here is my list of near future plans that I have for my car and I want to know how much my 1/4 mile time will be increased when i'm done. Also give your thoughts if there is better performance things to get. Like more hp adding headers etc...

--- flowmaster exhaust system.with dual cats, 3” intermediate pipe, dual 3” stainless steel outlets, cat-back exhaust system.

--- low temp thermostat-160 degrees.

--- Edelbrock TES headers.

--- jet chip Stage 2 chip.must have upgraded exhaust systems and low temperature themostats.

The only real improvement you listed is exhaust. Everything else is considered a bolt-on. Bolt-ons just make a factory poor system, better.

An engine is just an air pump. Power is made by getting more air/fuel in and exhaust gases out of the engine.

Since you already have the exhaust covered there's no need to expand on that.

K&N filters allow more air into the engine even when they're dirty compared to paper type filters. The intake must allow more air in so changing or porting helps. A camshaft change helps but doesn't use it's full potential unless there's some good headwork.

Heads. The number one improvement to more power. Even a simple port and polish job to stock heads is well worth the money. Larger valves will allow more air in and out of the cylinders. The best thing to do is just install aftermarket heads. All the benifits of them justify the cost when you compare the cost of trying to build stock heads to do the same thing.

The cheapest way to make a car faster is to make it lighter. Take out everything you don't need. The same HP will move a 3000 pound car faster down the track than a 3500 pound car.

since stephen pretty much covered everything for you, l'd just like to comment on the false notion on the low temp thermostat. more often than not a low temp thermostat causes more problems than its really worth. a lot of people have the idea that the cooler an engine is the better it will run. its not nessecarely the truth. the colder the intake charge to the throttle bodies is, the better the and denser the air is. dense air makes more power. thus the need and importance for cold air intake. l think it was hot rod mag that made a statement concerning internal heat of an engine, the hotter you can make the engine run safely the more efficient the combustion process will be.
