NEED: car alarm system for my 88 IROC...

With the SEARCH OPTION down, I am unable to figure out what I need to 'armor-up' my Camaro safely from Break&Entry thiefs.
So if you should have something new or used that's of high quality, toss me an E-mail with the price you want. Thanks, Nitro

There are so many systems out there its hard to say which is the best. But when you shop consider these must have security features :

2-way paging alarm
This features pages you when alarm is tripped - adding extra peace-of-mind since many people pay no attention to a simple siren anymore.

Immobiliser feature
Disconnect the power circuit for starter or fuel pump so that when the system is armed,the engine won't start even if the thief sucessfully breaks into the car.

Anti-scanning/Code Grabber
This prevent would be thieves from using a device to detect and "copy" the unique signal sent from your remote transmitter to your car's alarm - thus preventing them from later replicating the signal to disable your alarm and enter your car as if they were you.

Multi-sensors
With today's security-wise thieves,one sensor might not cut it.It's better to have one or more back-up sensors to ensure an unauthorised entry won't go unnoticed.These include door/trunk/ hood opening,glass-breaking,interior movement,and shock detection.

Blinking LED light
Most alarm come with this simple features but ensure that it is placed somewhere near the steering column which is clearly visible when the thief get close enough.Making is too visible even from a distance may attract unwanted attention.

Sure you could save by doing the installation yourself,but know your limitation.If you do not feel comfortable dealing with all of the wires and delicate work,hire a professional,It will pay in the end!.

Re: Alarm...

Thank-You;
That's definitely information that I needed to know. I don't mind saving $$$ but I certainly have no interest in going cheap

Not to turn this post into an advertisement, but I have an alarm for sale that could fit the bill. I don't have the model number in front of me, but it is a (relatively speaking) higher end Viper model with remote start, and the paging feature w/ graphical remote. If you have any interest, just post here, or PM me (or Jim 86 Bird) and we can get you more details.
