I agree. It's a big park there will be room, especially if a couple get there early and rope off some spaces. I wonder if the constables would allow that?

Well, all the groups in the whole world can't tie up the whole park (even if they reserve all of the pavilions) because it's still a public park, open to the public.
Right?
Right?

Keep the time & place the same -- many have already made those plans
& committments.
Facilities?
-- Everyone can bring their own seating arrangements.
-- Need 1 or 2 people with easily transportable grills to commit.
(My grill isn't portable, but I could help w/ transportation if needed.)
-- A few card tables
-- Loss of shade? Admittedly an inconvenience, but if you are prone to
melting, bring your own umbrella and sunscreen. July in Houston is
scorching, with or without shade.

if i remember correctly, i used to play soccer at bear creek park, and when there was a tournament there there was NO space to park, the place was pretty full but i don't think there are tournaments in the summer...
all the pavilions being full does seems crazy... thats a big park

Re: Official Summer 2009 Houston Area Thirdgen Gathering: Post here!
Pavillions are often reserved by people who do not show.
The parking around the soccer fields is a little different than the parking around the pavilions. A soccer game attracts a LOT more people.
There are a LOT of BBQ's and tables in the park besides those associated with the pavilions. There are also a lot of trees for shade.
I say, if you have an easy up, bring it. Don't bother with BBQ's.

yeah i don't remember if the soccer fields are away from the pavilions... so i'm sure your right on that, i just remember parking during games was a pain, but again i doubt there will be games in July, its not exactly the right time of year for tournaments.
very true, i was just noting that WOW i didn't realize that many people reserved pavilions

Been meaning to post here for a while: I'm gonna try & make it to meet everyone & see all the cars. I'm not really good at planning things in advance but I should be able to make it.
Ha, but it won't be the worst either if I make it

I think if we're going to plan on having as many cars show up as have said they would in this thread - we ought to have a place reserved and not just hope to find a spot. Are there other parks in the North Houston area that could accommodate us? I'm way north of Houston...so I can only Internet search to assist...
Also - here's hoping we don't get rain like we've been having. BCP is currently under water.

I'm in but this is the first event I will attend... My car still needs work on the interior and some clean up but I'll bring it anyway whether its done or not.. Maybe you guys can give me some tips and ideas... Has the thread been posted yet to sign up to bring something or not... We need to check out to make sure the water level in the park is going to be down sine that last thunder storm... I actually live right down the street from that park so I can check it from time to time if you guys want... Oh and one more thing I'm guessing I will be able to find you guys but incase I cant see you all is there a certain place you usually meet up???

It does sound like it will be fun.. BTW if you guys need some parts I have a buddy of mine that thrashed his 91 in a tbone collision.. Hes stripping her down so let me know if you need something and I'll grab it for you.. I'm sure he'll let most of her go pretty cheap.. I think the engine and tranny are spoken for though...

Judging from the sounds of things, there will probably be quite a few people with thirdgens to show up that are not members of TGO. It would be a good time to recruit!

Well, I wish you the best of luck up there. Maybe you'll be visiting some time and make another one of our meets.
I'm ready for this thing now! Next month sure seems like a long time from now. My car is running soooo good, and that is long enough for me to break something else!

Cool, I just got mine running smooth again. It doesn't look all that great, but it runs like new with replacement FIC injectors.

I'm very glad people are getting their cars in working order to make the July 25th show!
However, try to keep this thread about the show only that way new-comers dont have to read through 10 pages to get the info!
Just a reminder:
Date/Time: Saturday July 25th, 2009 / 2 pm - 6 pm
Where: Bear Creek Park in Katy, Texas (on Clay rd. right off of Highway 6)
Out-of-towner thirdgen members welcome to attend!

Well folks - I'll be looking forward to the next meet (August mini-meet?). Found out the Grandfather-in-law is turning 80 and his birthday party is the 25th in Oklahoma. Make sure and take lots of pictures/video. I'll be happy to cut it together to some rock music for a commemorative youtube video

With all due respect, we could care less whether you
personally are there.
Any way you could have the car trailered in so we could
all "ooh" & "aahh" appreciatively?
If its operational this week-end cruise on down-south
to the I-45 Hooters. I'll spring for a couple brews.
Seriously...

Im still planning on being there although my car has no registration or inspection or insurance. Bear Creek is fairly close to my house. Unfortunately my son wont be able to bring his car (see photo). It is driveable but the hood won't open without a crowbar.
Anyone know of a cheap body shop?

I called Bear Creek Park today to see if there were any cancellations on any pavillions. All are still reserved. So bring those EZ-Ups and chairs.

We need a "volunteer" to show up early and claim a few tables for us.
They could call someone who would post the EXACT location.

Any volunteers to do this?
On a side note: Kevin89formula wont have his car back in time for the meet, but he will be bringing an extra pit and mable a fold out table with a big umbrella (that way we can set the food under it in the shade).
He may also have a surprise for all that show in the form of a TGO member vinyl decal (for a small fee or course)... I'll post the pic of one when he sends it to me.
