Re: 2012 Thirdgen Roundup
up until the end, I actually thought the weather was better than in any other year. I really helped being over grass instead of concrete. Sure could have used a few more clouds though (like the forecast said there would be)
It was a great day, thank to everybody that came out, congrats to the winners of the raffle prizes, and I'll post more later, including pics. I just got home and I'm TIRED

Re: 2012 Thirdgen Roundup
It was a great meet. I liked being on the grass lot, and there was a ton more shade. People had two different places to choose from to eat, an all the extra raffle prizes made for fun for everyone.
We also had a "top 5" car show with judging done by all registered participants. All in all, I would say our quantity was down but our quality went way up. Houston really supported this outing, and I'm sure the next time we are there the numbers will be even higher.
One thing I did miss from austin was the awesome photoshoot we had last year, but others than that I would say that this year was our beat roundup for several reasons.
Here's some pics (just a few, LOL)

Re: 2012 Thirdgen Roundup
thanks man. I borrowed a really nice camera, but I didn't know the battery life in it stank. It gave out about 1/3rd of the way through the photoshoot, so I had to continue with my point and shoot. I feel terrible, but hopefully we'll still get some great shots from the shoot
I'll be working on those this week, and mailing them out to everyone

Re: 2012 Thirdgen Roundup
it would be great to find at least three venues that are close to the cities that bring the most. conroe was a good one here. we need to find one near dallas and then one ( if not the old ) near austin, san antonio.

Re: 2012 Thirdgen Roundup
I would have no hesitation in going back to houston, but I think in fairness to the dfw people I need to explore something on the southern side of dfw. That way it's a fairly short drive for the other cities as well.
I think we had 18 from the houston area, which is good for the first year there. It's by far the most we've ever had from a host city. I'm sure the next time Houston hosts those numbers will be even higher, considering third gen nation is still a relatively new group/forum.
I totally understand that not everybody is going to make every roundup. Weather, gas prices, and the reliability of the cars is something that each person has to decide for themselves. I'll admit to being nervous about making the trip myself if for no reason I dont know how old my fuel pump is.
Robbie and I have a place we are excited to check out soon, if that doesn't pan out, we will discuss a plan b, including other cities.
The problem with a lot of in between places like Fairfield and centerville is there's just not anywhere that i've found that would make a good host. Let me know if i'm wrong

Re: 2012 Thirdgen Roundup
the canyon lake area is nice and a good split between san antonio and austin
so what was teh total car count? (broken down into total at once and total over the course of the whole show would be cool to know too, but I know thats hard to keep track of). Is there a pic that actually fits all of the cars?

Total count was 28, but the last 3 rolled up late after a couple had already left, so we didn't get a picture with everybody

I agree with the canyon Lake idea! I've been there it's beautiful. Great roads for cruisin' and scenery for pics.
And I thought I might add i'm glad you chose such a close place to me this year. About two miles from my house my car seemed to fall apart. overheating, transmission not shifting, power steering started whining, engine knocking. :O

I would love to hear more details of what went down. There are a few of us that really wanted to go, but were unable to.
So who won the plaques?
What were the prizes and who got them?
