Purchased a 92 Camaro from scam artist Houston, looking for lost owner.

I purchased a 92 Camaro, currently painted Red and Blue in the Houston area.

http://houston.craigslist.org/cto/3441731110.html

Found out the guy was a scammer, arrest records this year, and scam report for tacking money for job materials and not delivering/cutting phone off.
Soon as check for car cleard he blocked my phone number and did not send the title.

Info I have found/know
I purchased 12/9/2012
Seller: David Charles Beal
DOB 05/04/1989
written DL# 35218768
address listed from arrest 10618 Ward Rd, Tomball, Texas 77375
Has gone under buisness name New Image construction

Seen another vehicle add in the Houston area for a Truck from same seller. Engine on this car matches Vin type but not sales receipt.

Called a Bonds office and they said the registration was not in his name but in the name of
Troy M Karr
last known address 2144 Diamond Brook Dr,77062 Houston.
phone numbers not found that still work for this individual.

I have a title number, DMV would not release owners name but said it has not been reported stolen.

If it's a nice car worth keeping and you can't get intouch with either person then get a 'bonded title'. It's cheap and if neither person steps forward to claim the car within a 3 year period then it is YOURS. Call your local Title place and ask them about it.

Re: Purchased a 92 Camaro from scam artist Houston, looking for lost owner.

They're based on an assumed value of the car. I had to do one for a 2002 Grand Prix that I bought in Dallas. Here's a link for Texas.

http://www.txdmv.gov/vehicles/titles/bonded.htm

I had to buy the bond and pay for title and license even though I was taking the car back to Alabama (The title came up missing on the trip).
relatively painless just a p.i.t.a to do.

Yup. They wanted less then 200$ i beleive in my case. Ended up running into another snag. When paying the bond they found they guy that sold the car from me put a lien on it the day before and the reposesed the car. So in the end. Car price and repairs, I lost 6k$
