Any 3rd Genners in Tucson?

Hows it goin? I hardly see 3rd gen t/a's or camaros around here...I guess they're not as popular in this area but I could be wrong . Anyway here's some pics of my car taken by the previous owner in Texas and for now she still has the texas plates; I've been lagging on getting her registered and titled but I'll eventually get to it L8R!

Greetings & welcome! Nice GTA!

I don't see too many third gens around here - I guess we are the exception.

Re: Any 3rd Genners in Tucson?

Thanx man! I've actually been living here for about 13 years and still haven't seen the whole city....I kid u not lol! Yeah the good thing about 3rd gens not bieng common around here is that they turn heads and get alot of attention from people. I bet you guys get compliments on your t/a's huh? Mine needs very minor body work yet I still get compliments on it lol. Long live t/a's L8R!

Re: Any 3rd Genners in Tucson?

Ok, you guys are on crack. There are a LOT of 3rd gens here in Tucson. It might be the area that you live in but I notice them all the time. I don't get mine out as much as i'd like to but now that the monsoons are over with i'll be out more in it. I know of quite a few here on the east side alone and see them on a daily basis.

I'm in the Golflinks and Houghton area also, jfyi....

Rita Ranch here. And I know for a fact there's at least 4 other thirdgens in my area. I'm getting ready to sell mine, though.

Damn man! 1 flippen time and you still won't let me live it down. You make me a sad panda. What happened in actuallity was that I wanted to know what my car would look like with 5 inches of paint on it. I didn't like it so the experiment was a success.

Seriously though, its all good! We've all made a mistake or 2, mine just happened to be with rain and 10 degree weather.

Here's the beast from a few years ago. It's fun but it could be better...

Golflinks and Harrison, those are my old stopping grounds there. I lived in that are for 15 years. Sure do miss that place.

Theres a lot of thirdgens in Tucson. But i don't know that many of them any more. Alot of you guys have been on these boards for a lil while but I have yet to met any of you. I don't know what has happen to everybody in the last three years but i still poke my head out every now and then. Still got my RS. But I haven't done anything new to it in some time. Any how post some pics of your cars if you do have some sort of gathering.

I'm over near Speedway and Silverbell. I work at the Checker at that location. Drop by, buy parts. Although we never seem to have any when I need them.

All for a gathering.

so i think everyone should speak up and give a round-about idea of when there free on a night, then perhaps we can all meet up and bring some life to this boring town!

I'm free any night after 8:30. That's when we close at work. Other than that, my work days rotate. We could meet at In-n-Out. It would rock.

Re: Any 3rd Genners in Tucson?

There's parking. Just a few rows away. If we met at night it wouldn't be a big deal. But I bet that if we meet there, any of us with similar color cars are gonna get pulled over for the "no cruising" laws on Speedway, Broadway, and 6th Ave.

Re: Any 3rd Genners in Tucson?

I was told it buy someone who attended UA before I was born, and I guess it was started while he was a senior. So at least twenty years. That, and with all of the Fri/Sat stuff going on the cops would love to crack down on some muscle car guys.

Does anyone know a GOOD paint shop? As in, I'm looking for some good work, not a "get it done" job.

Re: Any 3rd Genners in Tucson?

I've never heard of a "No Cruising" law for anything except 6th. As for speedway, the only thing that I know of is the No Parking unless you have written permission from the business owner. We used to have that but it became too much of a hassel and thats one of the reasons I know a lot of people stopped cruising. Oh well, at least it was fun back in the day. Hell, I remember when cops would roll make a U-turn to pull into parking lots just to look at some of the rides......

As for a gathering, I'm always up for it but I must warn you, its going to take a lot of time and planning. We've been able to do a few but it was like pulling teeth to actually get it done. If your going to start it, someone should start a post about it, get who's interested, PM phone numbers, and get a list started.

Re: Any 3rd Genners in Tucson?

well im nowhere near tucson, im out in queen creek but i think its easier to find rx7's around tucson more than anyhintg, a buddy of mine dragged me to the last turn style drift event and i saw tons of rx7's and 240 sx's running around town and only like 1 3rd gen but i wasnt there for long, and Cra-Z28 is right, they're easy to talk about but the planning and getting people to come through is the difficult part

Re: Any 3rd Genners in Tucson?

Ill take care of posting up the thread to get ppl to sign up for the gathering. Hopefully there will be enough thumbs up to actually start planning this thing. As for me, count me in on the meet up. The post is called "Tucson 3rd Gen Gathering: sign up here" if you wanna sign up.

Thanks L8R!

Re: Any 3rd Genners in Tucson?

Hello Third Gens..I live near Santa Rita high school and drive up and down pantano to Speedway and back again Mon-Friday some may have seen me in my sky blue t-top 90RS.I have been a Chevy nut since the Super Shops days hanging out there in the mid-late 90's.Even got a parking ticket that I fought in court and won.(owner or Hogie house was an azz)I had a 72 SS chevelle at the time. Many of the guys there might still converse, this was before the drag strip opened as we did a lot of illegal racing in the Rita ranch area or Old Vail road area.Once the track opened everybody kinda split ways and Super Shops closed. They did move over across the street to the Deli ,but rarely hung out there.I did a few times and had many good times with those guys.
Some pasted on and some moved out of town, and some are still here..but dont own a car anymore.Once the track opened thats all we did on the weekends for a few years..super chevy..NHRA warm-ups..etc.Really enjoyed it,wish it was still happening. If you see me riding in your third gen give me a honk or wave and I will do the same?..

Likewise! I work at Merle's Auto Supply (been selling parts for 26 years now), and can get a decent
discount for any 3rd Genners - just ask for me, Marc with a "C" ! (546-4000)

Okay..after the new year starts, I plan on pumping some more money and time into my camaro.I am down to struts/shocks misc. items .Then a iroc hood with louvers awaits and then it times for body and paint.I will keep you in mind when I call looking for parts.I work for the city of tucson over at the east side,I maintain the TPD cars and we have an account with Merles as well. You might have talked to Cleo or Fred over in stores?.I worked up the street for Pep Boys for 11 years as a Mechanic and moved on to the city in 2000.My name is Bruce so if you get a call from me you know who it is?..If you dont hear from me soon, I wish you a Happy Holidays.

All right Bruce! You guys already get a smokin' discount, so I don't have much to offer you as far as pricing goes,
but it would be good to help a fellow 3rd Genner!

Have a Merry Christmas yourself bro!
