A Grey Goose Gets Shot Down

Rumor has it, that a certain grey 89 RS ...newly retrofitted with $5000 worth of goodies, has been mauled by another member's luxury sedan in a not-so-friendly street clash...
Not only did he lose the respect of 3rd genners everywhere...but also of La Raza.
Its a dark day for Mr. P indeed.

Out of respect for my fellow board members, I can neither confirm nor deny that a certain Grey 89 RS with a well tuned SBC V8, 18" Speedline wheels, and a full-race suspension setup, got it's @ss whooped by a paper-plated Japanese Luxo-sedan with a V6 in a heads up contest.

I would probably lose a drag race to my better half in her truck and with her driving it ...well maybe not

Bring those BAD BOYS to Fontana for the SLR on 5/14/05. Then we'll see how they really run. Allen

Actually, this is the pic, with both of the cars in question....but check out that black one in the background, that is the one stirring things up, not the blue one in the foreground.
Well, at least thats the word on the streets...

Unbelievable! I shoehorn my big *** behind the wheel of a third gen again and immediately become a target. The last three cars I had built were all set up for canyon running which is exactly how this one (the fourth) is set up.

Now the only two “contests” I’ve participated in with this car would be one with a Mitsubishi Evo that started with me having my *** handed to me and ended with him taking a chunk out of his left rear wheel because he tried to take my line getting onto the freeway. The other was with a paper plate Mustang on the 405 coming back from my friend’s house in Torrance, and a friendly game of cat and mouse is all that was.

So when exactly did I line up with this “paper-plated Japanese Luxo-sedan with a V6”? Because I sure as hell don’t remember, unfortunately I feel our friend Mr. Fearn has used my new toy as a vehicle to promote the acquisition of his new car. But with 330,000 miles on a LO3 I would be an absolute idiot to even think about going light to light with anything right now. This car is strictly a cruiser and will remain that way until I get a chance to correct the problem under the hood.

C’mon haus, all the years you’ve spent trying to get around me and I’m going to let you do it on the street and in a Japanese vehicle to boot? You must be out of your freaking mind. But once I remove the festering turd that lives under the hood and replace it with a proper power plant, you can have you race. But until then I’m afraid all of the races we are going to have will be much like this one, in your head…

That's interesting. I know that most cities have ordinances prohibiting automobile work in the street, but on your own private property?? For a moment I thought that maybe you lived in a gated community or had some sort of HOA, but I don't think that would bring the cops to your door, since those would be private property issues, not city issues.

It's one thing if you have three non-op cars on blocks in your front yard, but 2 cop cars just for changing the oil of a completely functional car in your own driveway? musta been a slow day in Torrance... if you called cops here in Long Beach about something like that, they would probably laugh in your ear. They couldn't even come out to take a police report after my neighbor's drunken boyfriend did $4k worth of damage to my car after he rear-ended it!

sooooo back to the topic..

what is the HP and TQ rating on that 3.5? is that the same engine as the 350Z? if i remember correctly the 350Z is rated at 287hp and its brother G35 is 290 or something..

It's 265/255 HP/TQ. Same engine in the 350Z, G35, Nissan/Infiniti,etc. Just adjust the HP for the market. Sorta like how the corvette got more HP than the camaros but was the same engine.

Should run 14.7-14.9 in ther 1/4 at 95 MPH and 0-60 in the high 5's or low 6's.

I'm not surprised. I cant imagine a 15 year old TBI with 300,000+ miles beating a ten-speed bike, let alone a new car with 95 more HP.

Right on! I’ve just got a few more things that need to be done before I get buck wild. Sub-frame connectors, torque arm, front tires, strut tower brace, etc. but I should have it all cleaned up by next week.
