Car: 1986 IROC-Z28
Engine: 305 TPI
Transmission: 700R4
Need help with suspension build up
I have a 350 that is pushing 450-500 hp and an unknown amount of torque. The guy I bought it from said he had it in his s10 and went through 4 rear ends and 3 trannys. I cannot afford this so I need the suspension, rear and tranny built enough to support this engine. I have Spohn LCA's, relocation brackets and Panhard bar, is there anything else I need besides stb and subframe connectors to help out? Thanks.

Transmission: A4, A4, slated to be a T56
Maybe a Moser 12 bolt?

SFC's are a must! Poly bushings all around. I'd go and find a 12 bolt rear-end, or have a 10 bolt beefed up. And then find a damn good tranny- a TH400, or a muncie 4-speed. They're a bit big, but they're just what the doctor ordered when it comes to this much power. The 700R4 is a good tranny, but its "tempermental" when it comes to taking a flogging. But if you really like OD, thats the way to go....or with a T56 six-speed
Also, depending on the age of the car, replacing the door hinges could be a valuable proposition. The doors are actual load-bearing structures and having them sag allows the chassis to become flexable. The SFC's help in this respect, but it's good karma for the twisting on the top of the car to have them sit right.

Yep they sure do! Thats only part of a well built suspension. You don't have to do everything to your car, but you need to make sure that whatever you do is well rounded and every mod to the rear suspension is complemented by an equal upgrade to the front suspension.
