Budget Rear Suspension Rebuild.
Finished rebuilding the rear suspension this weekend. It's much easier than the doing the front! Being that my wife fusses about every $ spent on the RS, I did rebuild for less than $100. Here's how.
Bought a pair of used SLP reinforced LCA's w/urathane bushings for $50.
"Free" SLP reinforced Panhard w/urathane bushings, handed down for the the T/A.
"Free" used rear springs from a 4th Gen T/A. Less than 30K miles
"Free" used rear shocks from a 4th Gen T/A. Less than 30K miles
Energy suspensions rear sway bar bushing kit. was something like $35. I would have used the T/A's old rear sway bar but it was actually smaller than the RS's F41 rear sway bar!
Note: I'm not saying this is the Best way to do this...just better than the worn parts I had.
SLP was still selling take of rear shocks for $10 each and rear springs for like $10 each last time I checked. So this shouldn't be too hard to duplicate for someone that's on a budgent. There are also lot's folks what will almost give the stock 4th Gen springs & shocks away just to get rid of the stuff.
Car rides way better than it did with worn out springs (251K miles and shocks (147K miles). Handling is decent...much better than it was. Ride height is pretty much stock.
