Removing rear rotors??

Is it possible to remove the rear disc rotors without pulling the axle? I need to change the wheel studs and wanted to know if that is possible. I have a 1986 Iroc with rear discs.

Yep you can remove the rotors. They just slide over the axle hubs. Press the bad stud out by putting a socket over the back of the busted stud, and tightening the c-clamp against the old socket and front of the stud. Pull a new stud on by slipping it thru the hole, and tightening down an old open-ended lugnut on it.

The wheel and lugnuts are all that hold the rotor to the axleshafts. The studs aren't part of the rotor, like they are on the front of the car.

You might want to spray lots of penetrating oil around the axle flange...the early (82-87) rear rotors are notorious for rusting to the axle and being nearly impossible to remove.
