Front Strut Noise

Well , I just had New Front Struts and Rear Shocks put into my 88 Formula 350 . But since I got it back from the Shop , I keep hearing this sqeaking Groaning Noise comming from the Drivers side Front strut . I took it back to the Mech . , and he just Sprayed Silicone around the Strut Dust Cover housing and said the Noise should go away after the weather warms up . That sounded like alot of BS to me , I suspect he did not Install the front Struts Correctly and maybe the Upper Strut Mount is not in proper working Order . Can anyone maybe tell me what could be the Problem Causing this Suspension Noise ? Any Advice would be welcome . Thanks . Mark..

strut tower bearings are fried. Either replace the bearings (which i dont know how to do), or buy new strut towers. I'd advise going against stock strut towers or getting them from the wrecker. Go with new camber plates (adjustable strut towers).

Also if you did not get a wheel alignement afer the struts were replaced that may be the problem too.

Strut Noise .

Thanks for replying . I did have a Front Wheel alignment when I had them put in .

I am pretty Sure now it is the Strut Bearing that is the problem . I think the Mech. who put in the Struts EFFED UP the Bearing on the Drivers Side . Can ONLY the Bad Bearing be replaced , or do I now have to replace them BOTH Right and Left Bearings ? The Labor involved could be more than the Cost of the Part I think .

yeah when you put those new strut mounts in your car it will have to be aligned again.

Update

Well , I found out what the Problem was for the front drivers side strut Noise . The Mech who installed these New struts I bought had a hard time getting them in for some reason and Admitted to me he Freakin used Vice grips on the strut Rod and Created a burr in the Metal that made the Strut lose it's Gas Charge . The Noise was the Strut moving up and down without any Support . I got another Strut from the Shop , and it was Installed correctly this Time by the Head Mech . I INSISTED he do the Work , he had more experience with F Bodys . Needless to say , I am never going back to that Shop again . Bunch of Ripoffs ! Ugh..
