Chevy S10 rear?
Will a rear end from a chevy s10/s15 fit a thirdgen, i know someother parts will and the reason i ask is because i found an ad on craigslist for one for sale and if it fits I would be interesed in buying it.
"I have a Chevrolet 10 bolt rear end for Chevy S10/S15 1982-93. Rear end has aftermarket axles and Auburn Differential w/ 4.10 gears. Price is negotiable. Rear is in excellent condition and was built to be bulletproof. $250"
If this fits my car i think it would be an awesome addition...

Although they're both 7.5/7.625 diffs, that's where the silimarities stop. The housing is different where the S10 uses leaf springs and the third gen uses coil springs with a torque arm suspension. The S10 axles are also longer so they can't be used in a third gen housing.
The only thing you can use from an S10 diff is the gears/carrier.

Does not seem economical, but could you weld on the spring perches and do all the things you would do if it were a 9" or 12 bolt? And then use forth gen offset wheels?

W H A T ?
Ya mean, use leafs springs in a 3rd Gen ? Damn Monster's Garage freak ::
But I was also thinking, would one be able to use 4th Gen wheels.

Spring mounts, shock mounts, LCA and panhard mount can all be cut off a third gen diff and welded onto any other diff but you will have no way of installing a torque arm onto anything other than a third/fourth gen housing. I moved all my brackets onto a 9" and installed ladder bars.
Why would you want to move all the mounting brackets onto another tiny 10 bolt that's designed to fit under an S10?
My mistake, S10's have a narrower diff
Third gen axles are 30-3/8" long
Fourth gen axles are 32-1/8" long
Most S10 axles are 26-3/4" long
S10's have a lot of different axle lengths depending on the year and if it's 2x4 or 4x4 but none are the same length as an F-body. Even axles from an Astro van won't fit.
