Need an aftermarket torque arm
I just go a 35 spline 9" direct bolt in for my car. it has all the stock mounting components. the thing is, the guy i bought it from was making 550 HP at the wheels with a s/c 383. Basically he bent the factory torque arm on the street when he punched it. he was going 11.2-11.4 with the set up.
My plan is to go mid 10's with my 540, so i am wondering if a BMR adjustable torque arm will suffice. i know they my different stages for more HP, but what would you guys recommend? i don't have the motor build yet, but i am planning for 700-800hp. i am also using a TKO 600, so i think i don't want to mount the torque arm to the tail-housing. I would like to get a separate torque arm mount so that i don't break the tranny tail-housing.
What are your thoughts? This is a street car, not a dedicated drag car, so i still need to go around corners and such.
Suggestions would be awesome!
Josh

All depends on what kind of exhaust system you plan on using. Many of the after market arms that do not mount to the tail housing, will most likely have exhaust clearance issues.
With the 540, I highly doubt you will be using anything that will even resemble a stock location exhaust system.
I wanted to use the Spohn myself, but it would not clear the Mufflex 4" I was using.
Not sure about the BMR, or others though.

i will be using a dual 3.5" system, with muffler mounted at the back. I noticed with the bmr one, it had a little dip it the relocation bar... but i need a dip that is much bigger.
is there any other way to do it? a way without a torque arm?

Spohn has a chrome alloy torque arm with the trans cross member and the mount for the torque arm, I believe it is rated for 800+ horse power. Check out the web site. Best improvement for traction and launch for me anyway.

got the hyme joints adjustable pinion, Trans crossmember and it was a bolt in item. No exhuast interferance, Only thing is the driveshaft loop hangs a little low, No problems with ground clearance, Not in Michigan anyway.
