15000 members. 2200 views. 10 orders.

I think the situation is the same as before.

I don't think it's gonna make it.

Car: '88 Iroc, '91 RS, and a '70 RS
Engine: 5.7 TPI; 5.0 TBI; ZZ4/T56 on the ag
Transmission: A4, A4, slated to be a T56
Quote from Hunter Motorsports:

If we can get 15 to 20 people together on a production run I think we should be able to get the price down to about $425 Canadian (about $280 U.S.) This is a little more expensive than some of the others on the market, but I really believe they are worth the extra bucks, or I would not have spent any of my money to develop them. (01-06-01)

If there is going to be another production run made, then I need at least 20 FIRM (as in money) commitments to purchase to make it possible. The cost per set will be $450 CAN.
(03-07-02)

Committed guys for an order, per thread:

Mr. IROC-Z (Tommy)
Christobal (Interested?)
Crazeinc
Scooter (James)
DAVECS1
poncho9789: 3 sets of ‘em!!! (moneybags)
scauffiel
Scott_92RS
Trux
Tom Keliher
Lasersi
Justins86bird (Interested?)
CrazyHawaiian (Interested?)
TPl383
ebmiller88…ME!!
Soulbounder
Dewey316…you in yet??
LILRED383
SUPER CHEVY66

SO!! Here’s the totals:

We have 17 “committed” orders (3 from poncho if he’s still in…hope so!!)
3 guys are “interested” and they are: Christobal, Justins86bird, and CrazyHawaiian.
Dewey316 was/is a little short at the moment and undeclared. What’s your status man??

My calculations give us an order for Karl of 17 DEFINITES and 4 possibilities.

Karl, can you hook us up yet? Also, can everyone in limbo on this either confirm or cancel so we can get a solid number for Karl?

Thanks all.

I noticed my name listed. I am sorry I cannot help out, but I have put my car back together with new AC delco road handlers. If Icould get a break I would consider it. I have a bunch of 2024 T6 3/4 Aluminum plate I would be willing to donate to the cause also. I think there is enough for 20 sets. Let me know. Like I said I was more than willing, I waited a month to put my car back together! So I know how those of you feel that are trying to pull this together.

Here is info directly from Paypal:

In addition to the U.S., PayPal is now available in the following countries:

Canada

PayPal accepts withdrawals to local bank accounts in these countries. Users in any country may withdraw funds to a U.S. bank account.

Simply, I think you pay in US Dollars, and it gets deposited in the Canada bank in Canadian converted dollars.

Karl has had my confirmation since shortly after he asked for an email response. It does strike me as strange we can't get 20 by this time.

I have no doubt that we will get 20 willing and able purchaser, it may take a little more time for some to get it together. I will remain officially in for months if that's what it takes.

Ok, so that's 21?

I almost missed this:

So - if you are SERIOUSLY interested in buying a set of these bad boys please send me an e-mail HunterMotorsports@Hotmail.com - sorry I really have been too busy to get a website set up. Please make the subject HMS STRUT MOUNT
Include year and model of your car and which version you want - standard height - or extended version for lowered suspension.
Also please leave a phone# where I can reach you to confirm any details.
So, please make sure you do this if you are interested.

O.K. guys - we are obviously really close.

I have been way too busy for the passed 2 weeks to think much about this - sorry - and I am headed out to Portland for about a week as of tomorrow morning for the Rose Cup at Portland International Raceway. This has been taking up much of my time.

When I get back I will get right on to this and we can get rolling.

If you want these and you have not e-mailed me - THEN YOU MUST E-MAIL ME.. MUST!!@!@@!! If you have said somewhere on this thread that you are in but you have not e-mailed - then you WILL get left behind. So just make sure you E-MAIL ME!

O.K. - was I clear enough about that??

Once again - thanks for all your interest - I will deal with this next week - come see us at PIR if you get a chance - just look for the BIG white Corvette.

Any idea of how long it will take to make them (after you get back in a week)? No hurry, I just like to know so I can be prepared.

Thanks.

Sorry guys I can't do it now I bought another car assuming this wouldn't ever happen so I am sinking a ton of money into that thing right now It is the 88 formula now in my sig..

Sorry but you guys understand

The car is a white 88 formula with 150k miles a tpi 350, th350 tranny, 9 bolt, and an absolutly flawless interrior that looks like it only has about 10k on the car it even smells new?? but anyways it needs body work that I am working on now. I got the car for $400 dollars it was on the clasifieds on this site for $600

Just thought I would explain why I have to back out of the order.

I cant wait!! I guess I should wait a little longer to put my Guldstrand Tie Rod Sleeves on then, since I'll just need another alignment after putting these on. The timing on this is working out great Karl, did you ever find out if you can get them anodized in Purple?

Questions

Umm... I want my car to appear lower but I am putting larger brakes and rotors on the front, I will probably be running a 17 ot 18 inch rim. Should I go for the lowered strut mount or the race version?

Do I need a longer strut to use the race version?

Thanks:hail: :hail: :hail:

Trux, If your car will be driven on the street, definately purchase the Medium height version. The race version is for cars lowered to much for street use (ie: potholes, speedbumps,etc...) The race version will most probably require repositioning of the mastercylinder in order to fit.
Also, this would not require a different length strut with any version. The whole purpose here is to allow more clearence for the standard length strut when the car is lowered when using medium or race versions.

Thanks for the answer but I was just wondering if I was going to use l;arger wheels in teh front and I still wanted the car to appear lowered would the race version help.
I am not sure if the any version would have a lowering affect now.

thanks though:hail: :hail: :hail:

These won't lower your car. They only allow for more suspension travel of the strut if the car is already lowered.
When you lower the car, the strut ride height is sitting in a lower position and will ground out on the stock mount. This new mount allows for more travel by extending the strut travel aprox. another inch or so to compensate for the inch or so lost by lowering.

Larger diameter tires will ground out into the fender wells easier if the car is lowered. Again, Ride height is determined by the spring and not the strut or strut mount.

Karl are you accepting Visa?
Can you provide a shipping price to germany?
Did any foreign members mailed you, so we could arrange a better shipping quote????
Weight for a set?
Weight for a set with shipping box?

Can you provide more data for the race version!

We might jump on a sec run, as i need the time to post the news to our europian members!

Anybody from the EU( europian countries) that is intrested led me know!!
The CFC is willing to arrange a "GP" just for europians!!!!!!
Also if there is intrest in other parts from the US let us know!!!

German-M,
I have a question on your coilover use that you may want to consider. I taked to Karl at HunterMS asking about the underneath "can area" or opening that the strut travels into. My question to him was if the opening is as large as the stock part(steel) because aluminum use is thicker. He advised me that he felt it might not work with the coilover kit but wasn't certain because he had never seen the kit and how it mounts.

Do you know the diameter of the spring hat and the distance it mounts up into the underneath of the stock mount? It doesn't look to me from your picture that the spring goes up into it but the hat does.
If you use the medium or race versions, I think the spring would interfeer. I would hope not, but I think it will. Maybe if you could get those measurements for us it would help greatly.

Thank you, Dean

O.K. Heres the update:

Final confirmation e-mails have been sent out to all those on "the list" - If you did not receive an e-mail but you thought you were on the list - then PLEASE e-mail me again and we will get you taken care of - its not too late.

Fairly shortly all those who have sent replys to the final confirmation e-mail will be receiving instructions on deposit and payment. I expect at this rate production will start within 2 weeks - if all goes well.

I am also aware that the whole "canadian funds" thing is causing a bit of a headache for many customers. I would like to make it easier - so I think I will just state a U.S. dollar price which will be very close to the equivilant canadian dollar price - stay tuned for this info.

I will also be checking into the most economical - and easiest way to handle the customs brokerage for U.S. customers.

If you have any concerns or questions please feel free to contact me.

The currency exchange fluctuates a lot. Here is the currency rate today:

450.00 CAD
Canada Dollars = 291.502 USD
United States Dollars

Karl will probably just figure out a set price and that's what we will need to go by.

So Karl, what is the latest word on production?

Real soon - within a week if all goes well.
No problems or anything - I am just a bit busy these days.

I would like to set a U.S. dollar price to make things easier - so how does $300 U.S. sound to everyone? This is within 10 bucks of the current conversion - and of course it fluctuates a bit all the time - but I will then worry about the conversion at my end instead of you guys having to do it. Let me know if this is reasonable.

I will make the anodizing option $13 U.S. extra for special colors - or $13 off for bare aluminum if we go this route.
