Help Please!
I just installed Edelbrock coated headers and Y pipe on my 92 RS 305 tbi. open air element and headers are the only upgrades to the motor. New plugs wires, blah blah, etc. I installed a new O2 sensor when I installed the headers. I just took it out for the first time today and when your on it hard the check engine light flashes and the engine cuts out, then pulls then cuts out, over and over. ????????????? Help please. Oh yea, I eliminated the cat and it is staight piped out the back of the car. Anyone else have this problem.

i would look for wiring problems any where you were working near.
may be a wire is rubbing against one of the headers or a bad connection.
check all of the grounds on the motor.

codes??? put a paper clip in the obd1 connector a/b and read the code numbers. whatever is causing the check engine light to flash is very important and could cause the converter to go bad or possibly even worse, new engine.

yea watch out for your converter just throwing this out, whats your speedo do before the thing cuts? bad vss might f things up pretty good.
hmm, only does it when you're on it hard... if it was a wire touching a header it should do it all the time and throw the SES constantly,, if its only when you're accelerating,,, under load,,,
i doubt headers could cause this but if he was flowing a significant amount more through the exhaust could it literally lean the motor out so much that it throws an o2 sensor code, maybe if the o2 itself was f'd up a bit, wire touching etc.. kinda sounds like a speed limiter issue or something is throwing him into limp mode home cause its still running when it cuts, on second thought i agree with the other post, check the grounds.. also try resetting the comp AFTER reading the SES code.

Thank you all for your help. I did not put the air tube going to the cat back on since the cat is no longer there..........and it mounts to the same stud as all the ground wires! The nut that was holding the ground straps on vibrated off and was only making intermittant ground.
Thats why there were no codes stored.
Again thank you all for your help
