vortec motor with GMPP TBI intake

does anyone have pics of a vortec motor with the GMPP TBI intake installed? i need to see how the EGR tube is plumbed to the intake and part #'s if you have them. also does anyone know if there is a aftermarket vortec intake instead of the stock plastic one for a 99 vortec 350

thanks

Re: vortec motor with GMPP TBI intake

I don't have a pic, but I think I can explain it to you. On the driver's side of the intake towards the front, there is a threaded hole. This hole leads to a passage on the passenger side of the intake where the EGR valve mounts. The threaded hole on the driver's side accepts an EGR tube, which runs down the side of the intake and plumbs in to the header. You will have to buy either headers or exhaust manifolds to make this work.

I didn't run any of this because it starts to add up and it was just cheaper to have the EGR turned off in the chip and block the holes off. The EGR tube alone is about $100, then the cost of the valve and the cost of the headers.

There is an intake for the newer style trucks. It is called the marine intake and requires some modifications and more money.

I removed EGR for simplicity's sake

you can see the plug I installed for the exhaust feed above the #1 cylinder

If you require EGR for emisions reasons you can simply install an EGR valve and leave it inactive. The smog ****'s most likely won't know that it has to be plumbed externally.

You can tune around the lack of EGR to get past a smog test.

Re: vortec motor with GMPP TBI intake

Older post yes, but good info. I just ordered one of these EGR external pipe plugs for my GMPP manifold. The one I ordered is GM P/N 12556596. As of March 2009, it is $15 - $20 depending where you get it.
