dual snorkle

im interested in making/ buying a dual snorkle air cleaner. im sure i could handle buring an intake duct and cutting the right sized hole in the air cleaner, but what goes along with that? obviously im going to need more fuel if i have more air, so does that mean i need to mess with the computer? do i need a chip made, do i need largr injectors or even as far as a more powerful fuel pump? it's a 88 305 tbi. if anyone knows of a website that has some kind of detailed instructions or anything helpful, that would be wonderful. also, if anybody knows of where i could buy an already made or used dual snorkle air cleaner, that would also be great...or would an open element be better?

Re: dual snorkle

Why would you think the OEM single-snorkel is too small for a 305?

An open-element air cleaner pulls hot underhood air, it would be a step backwards from what the vehicle came with.

Might as well leave it alone until you have more engine.

Open element, while able to flow much better than the stock single snorkel is going to pull in hot, under hood air - which saps power no matter what.

A dual snorkel (L69 OEM or something else) will pull in more air than your single snorkel one can and it will be from outside the engine compartment, so it will be cool and dense.

I heard of an old test where they took a stock L69 dual snorkel and replaced a single snorkel on a LG4 carbed car and it picked up .1s and 1mph with no other changes. Stick a K&N and rip out the air fences in the assembly and it will be worth even more.
