Recently I noticed a big powerloss -- no more tire peel, lag after hitting the pedal, etc. Found two big chunks of catalytic converter mass at the very end of my exhaust. Got them out. Car feels a lot more responsive. Now, how can I make sure the rest of catalytic junk is still not in there somehow... and how can I clean it out? Don't laugh at me, please The catalytic converter mass is most likely from the days when I tried to put an old cat to pass emissions.

New exhaust system. That stuff is pretty durable.

Who knows how stopped up the muffler might be, etc.

I have a straight-through muffler (glasspack).
Does that mean I still have a chance of unclogging it?

I doubt it...

It carries around its own clog it was manufactured with, namely, the glass packing. Lose that anti-performance thing, put a real exhaust on it, you'd be surprised how much more power the car will have. Plus it won't sound like some ******* hillbilly type jacked up pickup truck after it's been on there for a while, like those always do. You know that obnoxious slapping noise those make? That's the glass whapping back and forth inside there. It always finds its way into the baffle and gets stuck and blocks it up.

Haven't heard the slap yet, but don't want to hear it either

A friend of mine has a decent 3" exhaust. He said he'll give it to me and I can pay him when I get a job. Seems like it's time for me to install that.

Later, when I stock up on cash, I'll go with headers, any kind, anything is better than manifolds...
