Had 2 Call Edelbrock Complaining
I bought a performance carb from edelbrock and it was running sh*tty. Cutting off, Stalling, Farting....etc; No mechanics knew what the problem was: In return I been dishing out a lot of cash that I dont have to get it check out.
Guess what my salesman forgot to tell me at Ramchargers; I need an uncomputerized distributor.bs:
My distributor that I have is controlling my new carb and it is driving my car crazy.
I never heard of a distributor being computerized. Where can I get a distributor thats not computerized in Detroit/Ann Arbor? Can I get one from Autozone or Murrays?
THIS IS WHERE I COME FOR REAL HELPFUL ADVICE AND THE WELL IS NEVER DRY. SO DROP ME A FEW LINES ON THIS SITUATION.

if you've got an ECM, you need a controlled distrib and a controlled carb.. make sure eerything is hook up rght
if you don't have an ECM, you need to make sure you have a vacuum advance distrib and a non CC carb...
hope that helps.

if you just got a normal 1406 edelbrock carb, then it's non computer controlled (does edelbrock even make computerized carbs??) and yes you will need a non computer distributor.
find one in the junkyard if you are strapped for cash, brand new they are a couple hundred bux.

As has already been said if you have a computerized distributor and non computer carb you will probably have problems. There are tons of HEI distributors on ebay all the time for pretty cheap. Summit also has a hi performance HEI for about $150.
I don't think edelbrock makes a computer controlled carb so your problem is probably with the ignition since it is no longer hooked up to your carb via the ecm.

But then again, just dropping a carb on an engine with absolutely no idea of what you are doing is just about as dumb. If you actually knew what you had under the hood in the first place you would have known from the start that you can't just take a computer controlled carb off without swapping the dizzy too.

I'd have to agree, I made the same mistake sortof, by putting a NON CC dist in with a CC carb. If those mechanics didn't know, I wouldn't go back there.
