running like CRAP and backfiring when cold..
I recently sent my injectors off to be cleaned and installed a new EGR valve and intake gaskets.. well upon putting everything back together i have about 18-19" of vacuum and about 41 PSI for fuel pressure (having a little problems trying to make AFPR so that is the cause of the low fuel pressure, not the pump.)
but yet when i start the car in the morning or when cold it ALWAYS dies if i don't give it gas. so ill have to start it and give it gas to hold it at about 1500-2000 rpms for about a minute or two. and even then throttle response is VERY VERY BAD.. if i press the gas down the engine will stumble and the RPMS will drop a couple hundred and then a couple seconds later the RPMS will jump up a few thousand to where it should idle at that particular throttle position.. also when i do put a load on the engine and start to drive, ocassionaly it will backfire through the intake and i can feel it on the pedal.. my symptoms remind me of when i was having low voltage problems before. but now im getting 13+ volts so i know thats not the problem. and in the mornings its not so much of a problem because i can let the car sit and warm up. but when i leave school to goto autotech i don't have time to let the car warm up and this is when it the problems are the worst. what should i start checking?

Well obviously you're going to want to fix your fuel pressure, that could cause all of your problems. Is that 41psi with the vacuum line plugged? If you can get 45psi like that and the problems persist, I'd check for vacuum leaks and make sure the timing is correct.

well it has always ran like crap when cold.. bad throttle response and stalling. one thing that i noticed yesturday is that i can start it, give it gas to rev to about 2000 and it will still stall the first time i start it, in about 3 seconds.. that just seems weird that it will rev to 2000 and then stall imidiatley..
im pretty sure the FPR isn't the problem, but then again i have always had low fuel pressure. but i don't see how a couple PSI will cause this much trouble especialy since it runs much better when warmed up..

i didnt notice what motor you have but in my 85 TPI TA i had this problem. Started checking voltage stuff, not the cause. It turns out the O2 sensor was bad. I know people are going to say that cant be right but, after changing the 02 sensor things changed for the better. No stumble no hard cold starts. Dont know if it helps but hey.
