SA Rockers, or guideplates?
Which is techinically "better"? I have a set of bare Iron Lightning heads that I'm putting together. I have bought nothing so far that would force me one way or the other. Pricing puts the guideplates at "slightly" more expensive; the cost of the SA rockers makes up for the hardened pushrods but not the guideplates themselves.
These heads are going on a 406 that will be unlikely to ever see the other side of 6000rpm. Any opinions?

i think i'd prefer guide plates, but i don't believe there is any real advantage either way. do your heads have a little hole or longer slot for the push rod? might want to look at it as whatever is less work and cost to set up.

I'd agree with both, the guide plates are probably better, if for no other reason than because the hardware (studs) that you buy are all pretty much intended and sized for use with them, and just because it's a little more "standard"; but if I already had the other, I wouldn't hesitate to use it.
I would run the best push rods I could afford either way... I would not look at it as an oipportunity to cheap out on those. I usually use Comp 7400 series ones.
So, if I could get the rockers that I'd want to use in SA, that cost less than guide plates + regualr ones, I'd go that way; if not, I'd stick with the plates.
