Windshield wipers locked up, need some help and rain in the forecast...
The other day I turned my windshield wipers on and the got stuck up a little about halfway before I got to where I was going. I popped the hood and the grey plastic housing is cracked and some metal fell out when I took it off
Now I ca't move them at all and they do not respond to anything on the switch. I put rainX on my car, but it is supposed to thunderstorm for the next two days...does anyone know what I'll need to replace and how hard it is?
Thanks,
Matt

if by plastic housing you mean the motor housing , then replace the whole damn thing.
I've seen some that only have the little motor inside, and some that also have electronic board (probably for the "better" intermittent wipers).
find the closest junkyard and replace the whole thing, you can probably get it for $10 (or go with new ones from azone if you want to pay more).

btw it's easy to replace , I'm going by memory but the whole wiper motor is held on by 3 long bolts I Think , most likely 10mm, just look back there and you'll see it ,unplug all the connections , MARK WHERE THE HOSES WENT !!! (it's easy to screw 'em up, I've done it before), then get a replacement and hook everything back up.
if you do replace everything along with the motor , dont' forget to mark the linkage that goes to your wipers so you don't have to adjust them later on.

Cool, I thought this was going to be a pain to fix like all the little stuff on these cars usually is. It was raining this morning on my way to school...RainX is only good when you are on the highway or going 40 mph+. Below that I coulden't see anything.
Thanks for your help!
