Return of the IROC

As in previous posts i have said that i work at evans pontiac. Well I had a question or two about the axing of the f-body.
I wanted to know what the difference was between the IROC and a reg Z28. I couldnt get a straight anwser and he told me that they are bringing back the IROC on the f-body platform. He said that the camaro in gm's eyes was becoming tainted. So they restyled it and the only camamro yuor going to be able to get in 2005 is an IROC. He said it will be powerd by the LS6. But he also said that that GM is coming out with a 8100 series gass engine that they might throw into the 2003 corvette.
But i thought that the diff between the iroc and z was suspension?

Car: 85 IROC-Z / 88 GTA
Engine: 403 LSx (Pending) / 355 Tuned Port
Transmission: T56 Magnum (Pending) / T5
Axle/Gears: 3.42 / ?
Just more BS speculation. As far as I know, Chevy has no plans to re-gain the IROC race series contract. Go to 50 chevy dealers and you'll get 150 different stories. I had one idiot (who's brother works for GM so he must know) tell me that the last camaro already rolled off the assembly line

Car: 89 Formula
Engine: 350
Transmission: TH 700R4
Axle/Gears: 3.27
hahah that guy who said those things is an idiot! 8100 big block in a Corvette, never happen! GM is very commited to the LS1/LS6
and there C5-5 race car, LS1 based is 700hp, why would they bother fitting a big block and adding all the weight? Return of the IROC,
not likely but certainly more plausible.

In 85 when the IROC debuted the diff between
that and the Z28 were:

1. Body coloured gr FX
2. Bilstien stuts and shocks
3. "wonder bar"- chassis reinforcement
4. 16X8 wheels with 245/50/16
5. differnt steering box
6.. decals
7. L69 H.O (carb) only avaible in IROC w/
5 spd. The TPI was shared with the Z28.

Basically a really good handling/ looking package, the IROC really shined in 87 with the exclusive 350TPI, and the non-exclusive
305 TPI 5speed (which you could get in an 87
Z28)

Colin, as has been discussed in numerous threads before, there were hundreds of atypical factory cars. 871LEIroc's list is IN GENERAL the difference between IROCs and Z28s. Apparently the factory did lots of stuff where "we have an extra one of these, so we'll stuff it in this car even though it doesn't normally have one"...

There is nothing rare about an 86 Z28 w/ TPI. If you read it corrcetly, 87 says that TPI was shared (meaning both Z28 and IROC used it.) The L69 was the IROC only engine in 85-86.
