Camshaft for my 383
I am looking at an SLP cam...224/230 duration, .502/.510 lift. The motor currently has 11:1 cr, sportsman heads, 2.08/1.60 valves, SuperRam, 58mm TB. It has already got a 244/244 duration, .576/.576 lift cam, However I am not looking to have a RACE car, just a street/strip car. I would really like to have a 224/230 duration with .547/.567 lift. Also my 383 has a solid roller cam now, so if possible I'd like to keep it that way. Any suggestions? Thanks for your help. Also what is the largest cam I can use with this motor and the stock computer? Thanks a bunch.

Look for a cam with 112-114 lobe seperation angle. This will help a long duration cam idle better.

I have almost the same cam you are talking about. With 1.6 rockers its .535 .544 lift. with the same duration 224-230. Mine is an Extreme Energy grind with a 112 lobe sep Hyd Roller. I have no idea how it performs yet though cause my motor is no done. I am picking it up this week and hope to have it in by next.

Brian,
are you using the stock computer? MAF right? I had a 258 compcam, and sold it. Now I have a huge solid roller, but decided not to buy DFI. I want the biggest cam for the stock computer! What do you think.
