fresh 305 doesn't pull above 4K RPM

I got my 305 TPI rebuilt (030 over), right now its broken in and here's the problem, when I floor it it pulls hard till 3000-3500RPM and the it only screams and doesn't want to go higher
what might be a problem?
things that I know that are bad are:
oil pressure sensor
vss is not hooked up (speedo doesn't work)
sensor that turns on the fans is not working (both fans are working all the time)
car has got a new maf (I swapped other one and it did the same), new wires, plugs
upon the rebuild I gasket matched my heads (#081) and ported the plenum, put a 90 350 cam (#773)
the car came originally with an auto tranny but I swapped a T5 into it. I'm still running my original chip.
the only codes that I get because of a vss not hooked up and sth about an EGR (I removed the cat and emission equipment)
so what can be a problem guys? why doesn't it rev higher? I thought that after gasket matching and swapping a peanut cam into a 350 one would make it go high.
EDIT: I put a right cam #

Never heard of the 771 cam. What 350 did it come from? There are such things as 350 TBI's...

But in general, just because its a 350 cam doesnt mean it will wake up a 305. An LT1 cam from an F-bod would be one of the best 'budget' choices.

Did you do any meaningful port work to the heads that would accomplish something, or just this "gasket matching"? That's largely useless by itself; in order to be of any value, the actual effective parts of head porting need to be done first.

I agree, the cam is highly suspect. That's not the L98 cam, and so is probably a TBI cam, that being the only other type of 350 available in 90. Your description makes sense for that, as it would make no sense at all for the factory to design a motor with heads that brick-wall at 3500 RPM, and then use a cam that did anything else besides brick-wall at 3500. That cam is almost certainly going to be optimized for a typical TBI application, that is to say barely off-idle at all times, with no high-RPM potential whatsoever.

What exhaust is on it?

it's a 773 cam (it was a typo, sorry) and it came out of 1990 350TPI - it's ther last one in a Camshaft Data here
it was free so even a $50 LT1 cam can't beat that
I was building that engine on a budget and added that cam because it was given to me
I would be happy if my engine was performing same as a stock 305TPI and I thought my engine with that cam would make its peak power @ around 4300-4400RPM
however it revs ONLY till 3500 and then in agony it goes to 4K RPM but it's not pulling
EDIT: the exhaust is stock manifolds to stock Ypipe to 3" to flowmaster 80 series with dual 2'5" outlets
I did only gasket matching, no major port work

You said the car was originally an auto trans. If thats the case, then it was a slight upgrade. I believe the 305 autos got the 305 cam and the 305 manuals got the 350 cam.

What valve springs are you using?

Stock manifolds on the exhaust. There's another issue. Get headers and a good Y-pipe.

I'm using stock valve springs.
I did some driving with my friend (Z_power) with a laptop hooked up and we found out that a the car pulls up to 4500RPM easily! my tach must be broken cause it shows right RPM till around 1000RPM and then it shows lower RPM than they actually are and it does that in a linear pattern (I guess that's how you call it)
so now to getting my lighter to work and measuring performance with a g-tech (no tracks around)

just today I put another tach in my car and it shows the numbers I want to see
didn't have too much time to test drive it but it pulls above 4500RPM :lala:
