A Few 327 ?'s

My dad has a set of 327 heads out of a Corvette, so I was figuring that I might be able to make them work on my next engine build. Here are a few of my questions:

It has to be made emmissions legal, so it is possible to tap into the heads for an exhaust crossover, correct?

Since it's from a 1968 Corvette, it would have had a mechanical camshaft. Can I just bolt them on my car with hydralic roller camshaft? I ask cause I have no idea if that has anything to do with the heads.

Will all the accessories bolt up to the heads?

I know that I am going to need a new manifold (w/ tbi adapter) and valve covers. Is there anything else?

And finally; What would 327 heads do to the compression when used with a 305? A 350?

Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

The heads have the exhaust crossover passage.

Head castings do not care what design cam is installed below them. Set the valve train up properly for whatever cam you are running, they will be fine with it.

No your 89 accessories will not bolt up. Those heads lack the bolt holes in the ends of them.

What are the casting numbers? Since they are 68 heads they probably don't have accessory botl holes. You probably don't want them.

I'm not sure what the numbers are, but I will check them later. I think that they are from a 68. Where the bracket holes different throughout the years?

They were added to most SBCs in 69. Vettes didn't get the updated bracket arrangement until well into the 70s.

Get the casting #s, they will tell all.

If they're double-hump heads without bolt holes, they not only will be missing the holes, but also will have the old chamber design from the 100+ octane gasoline days, that is extremely hostile to modern gasoline. Altogether not a good foundation for an engine build, even if it's going to be in a low-perf setup like TBI.

I looked at the heads and didn't see any holes on the front of them to mount the accessories up. Oh well, there goes that idea...
