leak down and comp test on a stand??

is it possible to do these test on a stand?? im trying to see if it needs a rebuild. i dont want to dump alot of money in it this year unless i have to because next winter its getting stroked. i just need to test it. it is a lt that came out of a wrecked car that ran great according to the owner.im putting in a cc306 so i just want to be sure.

Leakdown test, easy..albeit with a cold engine.

Compression test a litte harder, you'd have to mount and wire the starter up to get it to spin.
