Fuel Filler neck, what do i need to know to replace it ?
So i have the Notorious leaking filler neck problem, however, im kinda confused. Is the Fuel filler neck is made of rubber?, or is it metal? If i were to go about fixing it, do i need to drop the whole tank out ?
# 1 If the filler neck is made from rubber can i get the replacement from the auto store, or do i have to go to GM ?
# 2 If the neck is made of metal, can i put epoxy over it, rather than weld a new one on?
# 3 Is it better to take it to Satan... i mean the GM service center, and "take one for the team" so to speak? how much would that cost?
Thanks guys i really appreciate it !!!!

I believe that there was a recall because of faulty filler necks. I think the problem had something to do with the soldered/welded joint between the filler neck and tank. I don't have the recall # on hand. Call up your local dealer and inquire about it.

I have a 91Z28... i couldn't fill her up all of the way because everytime i make turns i smelt fuel.... i read up on this board that there is a recal on the filler neck... take it in and they will check you v.i.n... and replace it for free.... i turned it in on a tues. morning and got it back wed. evening... and i demanded a rental car because their shuttle couldn't take me to work, school, and then back home..... good luck
