Need Help - Smog test- High HC

Hello All...
Did some searching and reading on this particular topic, but all the threads I read were kinda old and I would like a fresh perspective on things...

First off, I now live in Indiana and my IL plates are running out. However, because my 'Bird is an 87, they want it tested before they hand over some plates.

So, becaue its a dyno test, I had to get my rear brakes worked on. Took it in to be tested and they rejected me for exhaust leak. Got that fixed, went in and failed.

HC: Reading 2.34 Standard: 1.4 FAIL
CO: Reading 1.4 Standard: 20.0 PASS

Now, allow me to provide with some details on my car:
305/4bbl no mods but does have a K&N. I also have a 3" Catback (generic). The cat is 2 years old but for the longest time, the AIR tube was gone. When it was in for the exhaust work, the tube was replaced.

Last year I had to remove my driver side head because of a broken spark plug. To get that off, I cut the AIR tubes cuz they were frozen on. Replaced AIR tubing and spliced into orig. AIR system.

During the test, my fan was on because I thought it was going to be the long IM240 test, which it would have overheated on. Find out that it was the IM94 test (or something like that) Coolant temp: about 180F.

So, I guess my first question is... did having my fan on kill me since it was running cooler? By the way the graphs look, the longer it ran, the better the readings were. But at the same time, it was the readings during decelleration that really spiked.

Im going to try to past the graph here... Any ideas on what I can do to help me though this?

Thanks in advance...
-Chris
