i know its not a thirdgen(by a long shot), but i figured i'd toss in some info on quite a rarity. My uncle who owns a cleaner business thats been open for about 25 years now has several vans that he uses to trasport clothes from pickup points to the places where the cleaning is actually done.. anyways, one van, which is about 20 years old now, was/is used nearly everyday to go between three different towns to transport stuff. He's owned the cleaners for about 10 years now(before it was owned by his father-in-law), and says that the engine and tranny are original. Here's the kicker, neither have been rebuilt, and last year the van's OD rolled over to a million miles.. impressive eh? now.. i know at least a few are going to go 'BS' and not beleive it.. but i've seen(and driven), so i know its true.(the van is a ford cool, nonetheless)

I got 131,??? on the car, but the block is from a '73 Malibu so god knows how many are on the block. I put about 50-100 miles a week on it driving to work and around town. My tranny died at 123,000 and i'm almost due for a tranny fluid change.

My 3.1 had 145k on it before it sucked up water during a hurricane. It made me mad because at 143k I changed the original fuel filter out and all of the plugs and wires!

Well, I've added 12,000 miles since my last mileage update; so that's 216,000 on the 1986 2.8 motor. Hopefully I'll get a chance to rebuild it this summer... my cam lobes have got to be worn down pretty good by now.
lol you know how old this is i remember this a little bit back. i was almost 100% sure i posted on this but i got mine up to 170K and it could have gone more but the combination of abuse of the previous owner and the abuse it had to take of me messing with it it did fairly good. and could have gone much more if it was taken good care of. i swear that my posts are disapearing all over the place or i just have really bad memory

Just a alternator 3 waterpumps (cheep *** rebuilt ones laster 1 week each one snapped the damned pully right off it) and a auto tranny rebuild last year. No other major stuff at all original all other then exhaust and sh*t like that. It was my grandmothers car its been in everystate except alaska and hawaii. Odd to still be around I see I'm still running strong and on top here 2 years later haha from when I registered originally.

My 3rd gen isn't that high but my 91' lumina 3.1 just tipped 280,000 and all its had was main bearings about 100,000 mi. ago. Those pistons slap like a biatch in the morning though.

pfft i allready forgot how many miles my car has, before i did the motor swap the 2.8 had major miles on it. back in jan my od reset back to all 0's so that sucker was used up. it still worked even with a messed up cylinder and i ran it without oil once. all i remember doing to it was replacing the starter and battery.
88CRUZIN
84 305 has 190,3xx on it with everything original but the rearend at some unknown point. the tranny is getting a little tired, i drive it pretty hard- all the time, but i don't burn any oil, it's just kinda dark and leaks. but seepage is good. it keeps the crossmember and steering parts from rusting.

dont have a car but got an engine for ya.t came out of my frst car an 87 iroc 305/5 speed when i pulled it,she ran perfectly it had 133,000 miles on it.the engine has been residing in the strut towers of an 86 t/a minus the tpi(lg4 quadraboggered it)it has gained somewhere along the lines of another 150,000 miles on it since then and it stll runs strong but smokes on startup.i'll tell you something tpi motors seem to love having a carb stuck on them that engine never pulled my roc the way that t/a moves.total 280+

I have 249678 miles on my 89 Iroc 305 TPI. Yes i know the sig says 350. But the 350 was supposed to be installed 1 year ago. anyway all I dod to it was change the oil, waterpump, and valve cover gaskets, (aside from the other stuff like alt.), and beat the living sh_t out of it and it still keeps coming back for more.

My 92 305 only has 89k miles on it, but I know that the 2.8s will last forever. I have an old S-10 Blazer with a 2.8 in it and it has about 160k miles. It still runs strong and I only start it about every 2 months or so.

I've got 160,000 on my 91 L03. All it's had is some alternators, batteries, and a distributor overhaul. It still runs great enough to kick some ***** A S S. I want to swap in a 350 when I have about 175,000.
220,000 and counting on my 87 formula with LG4. Dont know how long I'll go before I overhaul though, the startup smoke is embarrassing, its developing lifter clatter in the morning, and a couple of oil leaks. Trying to decide what way I want to go with it. Still runs strong though.
got a 180k on the ol' berlinetta has the orginal 305 and 700r4, put a b&m shift kit in to make it quit slipping and it now chirps the tires when shifting to second gear. Have added a torquer 2 intake,1 inch spacer and a 1407(750 cfm) carb. and a set of 1 5/8 full length headders. run her up to 6500 rpm at least once a day. only carries 10 psi on oil warm though.
only thing magor replaced was the alternater. put a gm one wire on it.
on secound read end though, broke the spiders out of it(ooppsss!! hehe)
sister-in-law bought the car new and has been in the family since.

165,000 on my '84Z with the lg4. Only minor things like alt. and waterpump have been changed. The motor is fine, but my T-5 just started making loud whining noises so I am swapping in a new 350 and a T56 over the winter.
My friend has an '89 RS with the LO3 and that has 190,000 miles on it with only regular maintenance.
Wow, my 305 TBI only has 51k miles on it, looks like I will be keeping her forever!!
In other news though, in today's paper there was an article about American Muscle Cars Getting The Ax. Now that got me pretty pissed. I will keep my Bird and make her shine better than new every day, to show my pride for the "Old American Muscle Cars."

I only got about 54000 miles so i have a bit left to go. It only leaves a small puff of oil when i start the engine. But i nener have to fill any oil(except for the oil and filter changes).
I can believe the mileage I'm seeing here. My 88 had 80K on it this summer when I put better heads on it, and the bores still had most of the crosshatch pattern. The engine was never apart before and is original. I just may be keeping this car for a while after reading this post.
I got around 197,000 on my 91 rs vert, it doesn't leak or burn a drop of oil. It doesn't smoke or anything. I bought it about 8 months ago from the original owner (he even had the window sticker with the price on it). He told me nothing major has ever been done except the transmission was rebuilt. I may be selling it soon for a hard top camaro, I have a son now so my reckless days have been minimized to secured risk. The cars almost in mint condition and runs like hell. If anyone is intrested in trade or part trade let me know
I read about a guy who had a gmc truck and he got 1 million miles. He drove it like 1,000 miles a day and changed the oil every 3 days... As for me, I have a measly 85k on my LG4, but hopefully it will be replaced by 100k.
I had 146,000 on my LG4 before I ripped it out for a motor swap. Ran well, started right up, had a noisy lifter. Motor is still going strong (I guess I cant say that for an LG4) in the truck my 350 came out of.

not 3rd gen but still gm.....i had a 90 corsica with a 3.1....it had 240,000 when i bought it for 300 bucks...after a dozen railraod crossing jumps...4 curb hops (bent a tie rod) about 30 revlimiter hits..about 50 neutral slams i put another 100,000 on it....i finally rolled it into a ditch and it was still running...i had to junk it...that little bastard was pretty tough
340,000 miles i changed the oil once and never gave it a tuneup.
85 305TPI Trans Am 120,128 miles and still had no major repairs dont to motor at all. runs quick quarter mile of 14.5 and burns no oil. Tranny has shift kit, the car snaps your neck and sqwauks the tires going through the gears.
90 3.1 V6 112,798 miles. Never babied at all still runs like champ, leaks a bit of oil but thats it. driven on a daily basis. doesnt even miss a tick at all.
My old 305 had 315,000 on her before she died. Transmission had 333,000 on it before i replaced it and it didn't die, i just didn't trust it. When the 305 went out she blew a valve and the crankshaft twisted and took a chunk out of the block. But she went all with out being rebuilt or anything except for oil changes, and thermostats
