301 good?

I have a 305 LG4...omg wow what a piece of crap. Anyways, I want a new engine :-) so I can go faster and beat these ***** mustangs. I saw on ebay that they had 301's out of 75's and 81's, with turbo...I was wondering if this would a better engine than what I have...or should I just save my pennies for a good 350 and get a stroker kit for it? BTW anyone selling a 350...?

turbo 301 bad

Gold 85 Camaro with no motor, pulled the 2.8 to make way for a 350 wich was pulled this summer because a 406 will replace it. The 406 sports a stock bottom end with ARP bolt holding it togeter, flat top hyper pistons. Comp 282 solid cam(.528 lift with 1.6 rockers) Savin up for my Sportsmen 2 heads right now. still Have the perf RPM and 650 DP i used on the 350. Headers and 3inch exhust. Shooten for mid to low 12s next summer

301, sure it's good, a good boat anchor. Seriously, if you got a 301 it would need rebuilt. It would cost more to rebuild the 301 than a 350 chevy. Then the 301 won't bolt to your current tranny.

350 with stealth intake, holley carb, 470 lift cam. 700r4 with .5 boost valve, vette servo, tci lock-up kit, B&M megashifter. Richmond 3.73 gears, powertrax locker, timkin bearings, synthetic lube. Custom 3 inch single into 2 2.5 pipes. 1 1/2 drop springs, 1 5/16 solid front sway bar, 1 inch rear bar, custom subframe connectors, custom LCA relocation brackets. Kobel ground FX, currant red metallic paint. Lots of other stuff...

The 301 was a guttless motor and it uses the BOP trans bellhousing pattern so it wont bolt up to the trans that you have now, or any of the mounts and accesories.

You are much better off getting a 350.
