Sputtering at High RPMS.

I just recently deleted my smog pump and i used a different belt size and not a delete pulley. When i floor it, it sputters and the RPMS fluctuate. Any help would be appreciated.

Problems like this are usually ignition related, most commonly a weak spark. With a factory ignition system, the spark gets weak as engine speed increases, unlike some aftermarket systems like MSD. This can cause your problem.

We need more details though... whats been done with the engine? At what rpm's does the engine speed 'fluctuate'?

The engine is stock. It starts to fluctuate when i floor it so 3k and above i guess. It runs fine when im cruising and even when i give it a tap, but when i floor it, it sputters and shakes the car.

Did this start happening right after you changed the belt, or a little bit later? If it did it just after you deleted the smog pump, put the correct belt back on and see if that cures the problem. If it doesn't, then you might want to change your fuel filter and check the fuel pressure.

What happened was i that i was taking the smog pump off and i couldnt so i put the pulley back on and the old belt. Then i drove it around and it started doing this. I then got the pump off and different belt size and it kept doing this. So it might just be a coincedence and the filter might be at falt.

Change the filter and see what happens. If it continues, then I would start looking at the ignition module for frayed wires.

from my experiences with hei and my car. I would definately say its the module or the coil. unless you have a bad connection somewhere.

My car would act perfect up until 3200 then the tach went haywire and act like it was missin. Then I changed the coil and it would go up to about 4-4200. Then my module went out and got a new one(to replace the new one) and now it pulls evenly all the way up to atleast 6000

Hey guys i have some very good news. I fixed the car today and iam very happy. I feel like an idiot and dont want to tell you what it was, but i will it was a spark plug wire that had been burnt by the exhaust. Even though i checked these wires countless times since this mishap, it had been scared on what side and it looked almost like the letters they print on the wires. I have had this problem before but this time it acted nothing like i did last time. I found the problem by looking at my engine at night time and seeing it arch to the exhaust. So thanks guys and you guys were right whoever said it was a ignition problem.
