Adding cruise control to non CC bird
Well Im wanting to add cruise control to my 91 Firebird that doesnt have cruise control. I have the correct lever with the cruise feature and I know where to get the cruise control unit itself and I see what vacuum I can tap into but what about wiring. Will their be a plug somewhere in the engine bay that I can plug in the unit. Anyone try this and have success or failure.
Im on back rounds and highways and I need cruise. Im wondering why this car didnt come with it. It has power everything. MAn even my 77 Grand Prix has cruise.

The wiring passes through the firewall without any connectors. So, no, you aren't going to have the connector if you don't have the equipment.
Cruise was an option. Some people/dealers chose it, others didn't. Between my Berlinettas, one had V6/auto/AC/PW/PL/cruise, the other had V8/auto/AC/PW/power trunk release. Weird combinations.

What if I pull the whole wiring harness then. I see where everything goes but just would like to know if anyone has done this and it worked.

If you pull all the wires, all the connectors ect and get everything hooked up perfectly, it should work fine. It really shouldn't be that much trouble. It's not like they had different ECMs for cruise/non cruise vehicles.

Well Im gonig to try it out and will pull the entire wiring out of a wrecked 91 Firebird. I hope it works because I use it all the time in my other cars and trucks. Thanks guys. If issues come up hopefully someone else has attempted this and it worked.

I removed the '82 governor system from my car and put in the '86 system from the '86 donor car. There is a vacuum hose and switch involved as well.
Since I put the entire dash harness from the '86 into the '82, I can't honestly say where the harness comes from. My earlier statement may have been in error. I was thinking of the harness from the switch to the cruise unit, forgot about the harness from the ECM (or wherever it comes from) to the switch.
