bracket issues...

well i just put a 350 out of a 79 camaro in my 89 and i started putting the brackets for the powersteering and alt. on today. I know i need a new water pump because the 79 pump sticks out farther than the 89. Also i put the bracket on adn the bolt holes wont line up on the bottom of the block and the power wire that bolts onto the back of the alt. hits my valve cover. so do i need new valve covers? the ones i have are not tall valve covers they are short.

Your original '89 engine was a V8, correct?

Are you not using the '89 brackets and accessories?

The '79 water pump will be "standard" rotation, and the '89 is "reverse" rotation for the serpentine belt set-up. You need to use the pump that goes with the belt configuration you're using.
