Which vortec intake/topping out?
i just took my car to the track for the first time after getting it all put together. I trapped consistently at 106mph. I think I may be topping out before the end of the track (I don't have a tach hooked up yet so I'm not 100% sure). But anyway, I realize I need to get a better intake manifold for my setup. I'm debating whether to go with the Edelbrock Performer RPM Air Gap or the Victor jr. I know the Victor jr might be a bit overkill but this isn't a street driven car. Anyway, which intake do you think would be best for dragging only and do you think I am really topped out before the end of the track? Setup is my sig.

106MPH is about right for what you have.
If you are using the whole power band of the motor over the 1/4 mile
(correct rear gearing) then the motor will feel "topped out"/used up at the end.
Cause you have reached peak hp rpm.
A vic JR manifold needs a lot of rpm. More compression, more camshaft, bigger carb etc. basicly 4000 to 6500+++ rpm work range.
(wants to be matched up with 4.56 gears 4000+ stall 250+@.050 .530+ lift cam
750-850cfm carb, big open headers 10.5+cr. Some head porting.)
For your car I would suggest a RPM hi rise manifold and larger carb 750cfm DP or VS and a high stall converter. (more overall power in the rpm band you are using now+ stronger top end but with strong mid range torque.)
Your fuel system probably need work too. (volume)
What is the 60ft and 1/4 mile ET? and 1/8th mile ET and mph?

Re: Which vortec intake/topping out?
60 foot - 2.3
1/8 mile - 8.8
1/4 mile - 13.4
1/4 mile mph - 106.23
I'm going to pick up an air-gap RPM intake and some sticky tires and give it another go next week.
