ok was driving my car HARD 1 day she decided 2 die on me i got her to fire back up but wouldnt take much throttle b4 tryin to sputter out so i figure time for a feul pump .....well got feul pump and bumped up the injectorswhile i was at it(24) added bbk fpr and changed plugs ,wires coil cap rotor button feul relay filter and hose while i was at it now i get nothing no buzzin from pump at all no good hearing so thought maybe 2 quite for me ....unhooked line to filter flipped the ignition switch no gas im at a lose PLEASE HELP ME GUY
im the dude, could be a fuse to the fuel pump. did you connect the pigtail from the intank pump to the harness above the rear axle. and next try applying 12volt power to the G terminal at the diagnostic link (by your knees) it manually powers the pump. try pressing the schrader valve on the fuel rail too does it shoot gas out. it could be a relay. sucks man. what do you got a 350?
all i have to say is WOW... nice methodology there always love the shotgun approach for solving problems...
why don't you start trouble shooting first like oh i don't know check to see if the FP is getting any power?
or i am sure continuing to throw parts at it will work.... i bet the there is some other unimportant part that could be replaced that has nothing to do with your original problem like oh i don't know the charcoal canister....

sure could hurt... now that you have played with just about every system that could cause the car to not start how will you know that some of that "couldnt hurt" isnt making the problem worse or creating new problems

ther s no reason 2 pick at me i told u ther is no feul comin from the pump not makin nois of any kind ??????but xactly how could me changing plugs cause feul to stop from coming out of the lines by the filter how could me changing the cap and rotor button cause my pump to stop working im not trying to argue but some of the things ur sayin arnt makin sence to at hand prob that my pump isnt working

dont worry about "SpitotRS305" he's cool. but did you say you put 24# injectors on a 305? should be 19# injectors.. I used to use a long wire from the battery to G terminal underdash, (i used to hook up my fuel pressure gauge and use the relief valve on the fuel pressure gauge to get some gas for my lawn mower. i aint driving with 5 beers in me. it workd.) but if you energize the G terminal you should hear the pump. if not, try checking the wireharness from tank to connector under rear axle..could be a relay too you know. try to smile dont let people rag on ya. everybody is different

hes no bother ive just swore by this site to SO many people that u guys r the pros im abit prideful lik MOSTmen are and it hurts a bit that this has me stuck im very compotent and the reason for bump up on the injectors is this tpi system is going on top of my 355 at the first of the yr so when i decided to freshin up an increas in size just seemed the most economical for me
well while you were REPLACING the old FP did you check to make sure you were getting power to the connector when you turned the key on?
the only things the FP is connected to is the PCM and the fuel pump relay which will pulse the pump for 2-3 secs once the key has been placed into the on position building pressure that should allow the car to start
now if that isnt happening you know that either you have a blown fuse... you say you have checked... or a bad FP relay cheap and easy to replace... but wait you already replaced it
so get your self a 12v battery and disconnect the tan/black wired connector from the FP connect the tan wire to + and the black wire to - does the pump turn on? yes/no
yes- you arent getting power from the relay to the connector check the relay again
and ohm out the wires from the relay to the connector at the pump
its chill, but man speaking to you from experience, 24# injector are just too much. think of it as a 650cfm carb on a 305, i say maybe theres a time to upgrade there a time to build. I going to be getting a 350 block soon. yep, im im going to bore her out and put it in my living room on the stand, just so i can drink a beer and be like hell yeah. stripped block, a bad *** carb or tpi havnt decided yet. its going to go in a 74' Trans AM. i dont even got a 74'. but i will. Red, straight out of American Beauty movie. i dont like big blocks. im going to watch that movie while i build it up. Oh no G13. ha. joke. but ya. did you really put 24# injectors on a 305? I got venoms 19#. theyre rich enough. might wanna try stock until the motor swap. im all for the big 355.
Does your oil pressure sensor work? when was the last time you replaced that?
it contains a switch that if it has failed or the engine has low or no oil pressure will shut off the FP preventing damage to the engine and would also allow the engine to start if the FP relay had burned out would take a while to start maybe 5-10 secs of cranking depending on how fast the engine can build oil pressure

im chill too so i take a simple 12v battery and wire plug the g spot lol and if nothin then i buy the harness to the pump housing could i juice off my car battery w/ a wire ? if so then we re pst the g spot

its prob the 1 from 1988 seeing as how everything else on the car is lol hell ibought her from a mechanic but i guess the sayin work on others and neglect ur own i dont think he even changed the ooil is it on the drivers side under the manifold

hey man i just want to say thanks i know this isnt easy being botherd with someone else when MOST have enough of our own u actually made me laugh about it when lately seems like all i want do is curse her but i lov my car and will do wat it takes
after the car died you tried to restart it and it would fire for ever? or did it want to die shortly after starting no matter what?
it would start and drive but only for about a block then try to bog out so she went under the knife figuratively and the pump is brand new relay added last night
just so we are clear... you replace the intank pump with a new one? you didnt add a nother inline pump?
when you replaced the intank pump there werent any extra wires? any questions about where wires should go? everything came apart and went back together the same way there wasnt any creativity needed?
assuming you did everything correctly when replacing the pump and relay you shouldnt have been able to make the situation worse... that is to say you should have been atleast where you started... car starts and idles and would bog out
the fact that now the pump doesnt turn on say you either accidently made the problem worse either by damaging something while you were in there or by hooking up the pump or relay incorrectly...
my suggestion is picture lots of them show us what you are working on if you can
you wouldnt need a new harness. but did you try the g spot?
took a peice of wire in her and touched tothe car battery i got the line to the feul filter unhooked so to see the results still no feul as i said new pump new relay .....u think maybe oil sensor lik the other guy said ????
if you hooked into the terminals correctly that would have bypassed all of the switchs and relays so either your pump isnt hooked up properly or you did it wrong
the G terminal should be labeled but it is the lower left should be connected to the Positive side of the battery
ok ill try it again may have installed wrong but it was 2 wires and me and shoot gun attitude went and bought the oil pressure switch lol ill try and prime her again but if i get nothin u would suggest me to re drop tank ?? to me that is no problem gotta do wat u gotta do it really doesnt bother me thanks a million guys i mean that
may sound odd but when you turn the key other things work right? lights? starter? gauges?
you are just have to go over everything from the relay back to the pump could you have accidentally pulled the connector when you were putting the tank back in place? really it is going to be something simple that you arent seeing

EVERYTHING else is workin dash lights up headlights fog lights it still tells me the light are on when i turn off the switch just got back in from removing the access panel under the carpet to check the plug for the harness its in ther good gonna try to get gas out of the tank and drop it again check her out try from scratch i really appreciate all ur help ill post my findings for u thanks guys
ok i dropped the tank again today removed the pump hot wired it to the battery and it hummed so pump isnt the issue could a weak battery cause it to not prime or could a bad oil pressure switch be my culprit i got a new one but the shotgunnin is really beating me to death seeing as to how my funds are limited and especially this close to x mas ????im at a loss here help me plz.....
Hey dirtybrd88, I posted a follow up on my thread, and since we were having the same issue (more or less), I thought I would let you know I got it started and back home. After going thru the suggestions in this thread-I banged on the gas tank and it fired right up. I will be checking all wiring this weekend for breaks and such @the tank area. I read a post here (somewhere) that suggested it and it worked. If nothing else it may make you feel better! Good luck.

I kind of assumed he was messin' w/me, but you never know. Apparently its pretty common for the wires to deteriorate over time. I was very surprised when it fired up and ran after a few hard bangs. Thought about taking back to mech who did the pump, but I think I will just take care of it. I don't have a lot of faith in him anymore. The hot wire and kill switch you suggested for your problem might be the easiest way to go. Good Luck!

splice in the tan one but which one on the harness?the gray one
you wouldnt need a new harness. but did you try the g spot?
So now I'm hunting down a similar problem too (88 iroc 5.7 tpi). Have alldatadiy.com (the best $20 I've spent on any car ever IMO) and a chilton's manual.
Fuel pressure reads 0 psi at rail.
Applied +12V to terminal G, no sound coming from the pump. Swapped FP relay with MAF relay (same p/n), no change.
Can you confirm that my next step is to drop the tank and check voltage at FP?
I was always told that if you bang on the tank and pump works it is the fuel pump. So I have always replaced that and it worked. If you get a fp from Carquest or Napa I have never had them last. I bought one from JEGS. A holley fuel pump and it has lasted the longest.
