Small Block Build

Just got my dad to hand over his 87 IROC to me because he picked up a Nova. He popped the motor a while back but it's got a new 700R4 with shift kit & ratchet shifter and a bunch of other goodies. I want to build a small block for it, anybody have any advice on the setup I am looking at doing?
I am looking at a spraying anywhere from 150-250 shot between two stages.

The build I am looking at is based off a 383. As far as top end goes, I am just buying it all through Edelbrock as a kit. They are claiming the kit will do 460 HP on a 383.
Quote:
SS383 Performer RPM Hydraulic Roller Cam
E-Tec 200 Cylinder Heads
RPM Air-Gap Vortec intake manifold
They are 64 cc heads, with the rotating assembly I am looking at I would be roughly 9.5:1 compression... can I afford to go any higher with the compression ration (keep in mind it's getting a 200-250 shot up top)? The rotating assemlby is fully forged and rated for 750 hp.

Suggestions, feedback, and any advice is greatly appreciated. It's only my second build; first motor being built for nitrous.

Re: Small Block Build

That cam has too much overlap for nitrous use, and even so, you should still be over 10:1. Also, for large doses of spray, the AFR 195 heads are far better, partly because of their much much much better exhaust flow, and partly because of their thicker decks. Combine them with this cam: http://www.compcams.com/Cam_Specs/Ca...?csid=204&sb=2 on a 9.4:1 383, with 1.52:1 rockers, an RPM AirGap, and Hooker 1.75" long tubes, you'll have 490 hp @ 6000 rpm, and 490 ft-lbs, without the spray. It'll pull well past 6500 rpm.
