Squealing problem and no WOT??
I have this intermittent squealing problem coming from what sounds to be somewhere in the middle to back half of my engine bay. Problem is i cant seem to locate it.
The problem is a loud metal squealing noise that gets progressively louder when engine RPM's rise. When this happens i notice a few things, other than the squeal i see that my volts are low, usually around 9-10 it looks like. However the sound USUALLY stops when the car shifts into second gear i have a 87 305 TPI 700R4. However sometimes it stops before shifting, and a few times has stopped after. The squeal stops when it rises up past like 2k when revving it. I cant get the problem to happen when i pop the hood and try and find it, even with a friend its like the car has a mind of its own. Just trying to get a direction on where to look. Im just hoping its nothing tranny related.
Second problem is i dont seem to have WOT all the time, i took my car to the 1/8th mile and ran high 10's i dont think that this car is that slow, its stock with an intake and shitty cat back. I noticed that when i step on it, i only have full power sometimes. Like at the track when i took off,(didnt launch it) i had WOT, about 2-3 seconds after going the car felt sluggish almost like in a manual when you miss a gear,(like going from 3-5) and you have to climb up the RPMs to get into power. Only thing is i have the pedal firmly on the floor all the way down. Also sometimes when i push the pedal down it doesnt go into WOT till a few seconds after, sometimes it takes longer. I feel like something with my throttle is messed up. I need to clean my intake, i have some carbon buildup and i need new plugs and wires. What would you use to clean the intake? Carb Cleaner?
