i have a problem i cant seem to figure out where to start! I put in a nice used dash cluster about 6 months ago that seemed to work perfect, odometer lights up, speedo and guages all working well, but slowly ive noticed over the last few times of driving that the fuel guage is way off, and when i turn on my headlights the speedometer and dash all go blank, and just glow? in addition since i dont drive it that much, it seems like the battery goes dead very fast- if it sits for a few days it will not start? It was converted to a carb and my sun pro tach is acting wierd, not reading properly sometimes accurately? any ideas where to start?

I'd start with a new Battery. Sure; I've squeezed every last day possible from batteries myself, but have also seen some weird things happen with older batteries ( that will start a car just fine.)

Digital cluster readouts often go dead - it happens and many times it appears to be an intermittent problem, till it dies completely !

The "disappearing readout" is often caused by a problem in the DIMMER circuit. ( turn on lights - loose the digital readout ). I would double check ALL your fuses and investigate the Dimmer circuit just to eliminate then as possible causes.

It really sounds like several separate issues, but I'd still start by dropping in a New battery first !

thanks John, I forgot to mention I did put in a new 850cca battery in the spring, the 383 needed more juice to kick over then a 650 cca battery would provide- I am going to start tracing all the grounds, and check all the fuses as well over the weekend, wish me luck!
