Heater control valves not holding up

One lasted 1 year from autozone (top popped off)and the other just went out after 3 weeks from oreillys (bottom cracked partially off and started leaking).

Anyone know where to get a good one from? Good brands?

I'd like to get a metal one. Any other GM models use a metal HCV?

Short of that I will build one from copper as a backup. I cannot depend on these even 8 miles from home much less across Houston.
