Wits ends... idle issues codes thrown all around fun time

ok let me start from the beginning
87 iroc 5.0 305 5 spd TPI
decided to put some money into her and got and edelbrock intake and runner set
larger 52 mm TB 24 Lb injectors
dropped everything in, using sensors from the stock setup IAC, TPS etc
while is was in there also deleted AIR system as the pulley had already been deleted but was still there in the car removed all that.
Also got new valve covers and went with breathers removed fresh air from TB, already had TB coolant bypass done.

intakes in no problems redid dizzy, tdc all set
also had to delete cold start inject as was a setup from an 89, had a piggy back prom burned up from PCMofNC so i could do the cold start delete

car fired up no problems but had quite the lope as if i had put in a cam
seemed to be ok idle fine..
drove to my buddies because i needed him to weld up my AIR holes on my Headers as i had the hooker comps with air.
after leaving there i had noticed i had a ses code thrown but car was running awesome so much more power than before the install i was happy.
forgot to mention we had suspected some vaccuum leak and upon closer inspection realized the TB gasket was missing lol...

got home popped the hood and realized DOH we had forgot the plug the MAF back in and that was the code..
plugged it in and didnt think anything of it, the next day dropped in the TB gasket went to go fire it up and it was having a rough time, would fire and turn over but die in seconds, unless i gave it some gas if i held the throttle down for a solid minute or so it would keep idle but quite high 1000-1500 rpm took it out for a little cruise but all power i had seen the night before was gone. NO SES code

now today wont even idle at all doing the same thing turns over strong but dies if i dont give it gas and as soon as i let off it dies slowly almost dieseling

was reading and reading thinking i must have missed something, decided to see if there was a stored code at all that the light just wasnt showing for some reason and it did come up with a 33, so started thinking MAF... but how does a maf go bad overnight i have a suspicion its something else... i just dont know where to start....

Suggestions please

MAFs can, and do, go bad in the box. let alone in use. ESPECIALLY if its a POS re-man one.inspect the wiring going to and from the MAF and both relays. do you have the CORRECT relays? and, no they ARE NOT the same part #. you need a factory service manual. follow the trouble trees exactly. WEEEEEEEE!!! aint this ***** fun! you can find your problem. it just takes more patience than jeebus. and sometimes a bucket of money. trust me, I feel your pain.

its not a new maf its the one that was working perfectly fine before i switched the intake though same with the relays... as far as the wiring going to the maf i just have the 5 pin connector that appears intact, yes ill try and do the trouble tree just need a test light ... its just annoying as hell i fear its more an issue with the new prom or something since those things changed and nothing else did ... dunno gah just wanted to bolt on an intake and drive this is friggen GAHHHH!!!

Re: Wits ends... idle issues codes thrown all around fun time

fyi guys fixed most of my issues, decided the last thing i had done was add that TB gasket so pulled it apart, this time i added permatex to both sides of the gasket and put it back together, started idle and holding it down for 20 seconds and all my power is back.... only problem now is it idles a bit high bounces between 1000 and 1200.... even while im driving, almost like im driving an automatic, while in gear the car basically will drive itself.. thought maybe idle screw was to high, dialed it back probably 1 and a half rotations and no change... also seems like the car will idle right down then go up higher than it should then settle then repeat the whole process...
could it be my IAC?
what is the proper method to reset it... ive read a few on here but seem a little different
