Fuel pump replacement...help!

So...I got the gas tank out. Quite the job.

I removed the fuel pump from the sending unit to replace it with a Delphi CFE0110 fuel pump. BUT...it does not fit exactly like the original. It did not come with any instructions for the various pieces in the packaging.

My questions are:
1. Am I supposed to remove the little black rubber grommet in the picture?
(Yes I will remove the red cap)

2. The shape of the rubber top that points to the end of the sending unit is not the correct shape, which results in it not fitting correctly.

3. The yellowish plastic piece is for what? I don't plan on using it...

4. In the last picture, I put that rubber grommet on the pump, but not sure where it goes or if I even need it

Anyone else used this fuel pump before??? I can't believe it didn't come with any instructions with it being considerably different from the original...

Re: Fuel pump replacement...help!

It should have come with "instructions." I checked that part in Amazon and summit racing and when looking at the pics it shows it. You might just wanna go back to where ever you got it from. I'm assuming AutoZone. Maybe someone had bought and returned that pump.

Re: Fuel pump replacement...help!

Ok, so I wasn't imagining it. I thought it came with instructions as I remembered reading them...but lost them. So I went back to Autozone to see if they could show me the instructions from another box. That box did not have them, I asked them to check another box....didn't have them (they thought I was crazy), I called another autozone to check, no instructions in box. I then thought I was crazy...until now. YES THERE ARE INSTRUCTIONS!

Anyway, I think I'm returning this pump as the isolator on the bottom of the pump is not a correct fit for the sending unit.
