What is this?

I just bought a 88 formula L98 and this is the air intake on it, all the ones I've had have been round so what is this? Is it any good? Thirdly where should I look for a chip to delete service engine light for removed egr and air pump? Thanks for any help I hope the pic shows up on here lol

It's a fairly nice piece. A huge upgrade over the 85-87 Firebird efi air cleaner, and better than the stock 88-92 setups. It's short comings were price, packaging, and flimsy plastic used in the box. It was always pricey for a thin plastic box. Install is a bit tricky since the charcoal can has to be relocated, and to get the box in position everything in that corner of the car has to be disassembled. Then there's the fragility of the plastic. The single version doesn't seem as bad about it, but the plastic can be brittle and can develop cracks. Not too rare, the single version was popular in it's day.

Still it's a vintage go-fast part with some neat history, and ties to SLP.
