ignition cylinder replacement
I need to replace my ignition cylinder.
My car was stolen Saturday night recoverd it this afternoon, but the key were never recovered so I bought new keys and cylinder just need advice/tips on getting old one out. I know I can search this issue but I'm kind of short on time and need to get it done so I can get to replacing driver side wheels and tires on so I can at least move it off street.
or would having a locksmith come make an ignition key be easier/quicker?
thanks again for any help. id do the research myself but don't have lot of time to spare. since I need to take time off work thanks to the thieves to fix the problems they caused

Re: ignition cylinder replacement
youll still need to search
remove the wheel, start undoing stuff and unplugging stuff until you get to the barrel
remove it
replace it
put everything back in

I would replace the ignition switch. You never know it could be the thief that has the key. Wouldn’t want it to get taken again.

Re: ignition cylinder replacement
There's a locking screw that needs to be removed to allow the cylinder to be removed. You access it by removing the steering wheel and taking out the signal switch assy. Just taking the locking screw out may be all thats required to pull the cylinder out. A key may be required to turn the cylinder into the acc position to pull it out.
Without a key, just drill out the tumblers with a small drill bit so the the cylinder can turn.
