wheel offset: thirdgens vs. early C4 corvettes

Do the 84-87 Vettes have the same offset as the thirdgens or is it unique?

The reason I ask is that AFS wheels offers the ZR1 wheels with the proper offset for the early C4 and it sparked a curiosity.

I posted on the corvetteforum before here, but nobody answered yet.

Yeah, the 84-87 wheels are awful looking. But... ever see an 84-87 with TTII's? Amazing. I've seen a few 88-90s with the TTII's and they don't look anywhere near as good.

FYI, I've seen a few early C4s with IROC wheels mounted for drag racing, but I haven't seen any pics good enough to get an idea of the offset differences.

yeah a nice black 84-87 with TTII's

i saw a pic of one when i used to frequent the vette forum

a guy 2 houses down from me has a 84-87 (i need to see if it has a 3rd brake light and need to see the color of the fugly wheel centers to be sure what year it is) and he has them fugly wheels on it

i really dont know what chevy was thinking by using those wheels

it totally kills the body style

when i see my grandparents i'll have to ask them what year vette my dad's cousin has

his first car was a 1961 vette
then he had a Sebring Silver 63 split window with fuel injection
and a bunch of other vettes
last i saw him with was a 92 6 speed LT1 (first vette i rode in)
but i since heard he bought a 99
now that i think about it, i dont think he ever owned anything BUT a vette
lucky dude

Just something for the moderators to chew on... After the 'First Near Death Experience" fiasco, I came away quite annoyed. The moderator said that I should have PMed him or the site in general. I would have gladly, but he blocked it without any message of why, so I had no such chance. I wouldn't want to face the hurt, and remain nameless, too... But if you are going to close ANY post, please, give the person a chance to take it up with you. Message before you close it..!

Do disrespect, just a suggestion... (Most of you guys do anyway!)

Andris Skulte has info on the backspacing of all the popular wheels for F-bodies and Vettes...

http://www.skulte.com/adapterfaq.html

Basically the bottom line is that no vette wheels out there run the 0mm offset that is needed with a stock 3rd gen front end.

Early Vettes had 38mm offset on the 16x9.5 rims. 3rd gen F-bodies have 0mm offset front and 16mm offset rear.
