l98 iroc vs. gsr civic hatch

okay my friend just got a civic hatchback with an integra gsr motor swap. his ratings are 170 hp and 128 tq. his redline is 8200rpm and his car weighs around 2000. i drive an 88 iroc with the l98 700r4 package. were gonna do two kinds of races, one from a dead stop, and one from a 40 roll. who do you think will win in either case?? any opinions will help.

if its a stock GSR motor, then i think you will pull it off, but it will be very close.

my friend has a GSR with cams and full exhaust, gutted out pretty good, and it goes mid high 13's according to original owner. other GSR hatches i seen go near 100mph traps and thats well near most bolt on L98s

from a dig, if he cant launch , i think you have him. from a roll it will be closer but i think you'll top out higher than he will.

do you have the 3.27 gears? that will be a big help

The GSR motor (B18C1 I think?) can be made pretty quick when put in a car that only weighs 2000 pounds, even in NA form.

That said, I still believe you will win both races. If you can launch your car well, the race from a dig will be yours. From a roll it will be close, but I think you'll have a good shot to pull out the win. Do you have any mods to your car? Does he have any mods to his besides the swap?

Yeah your right a gsr motor is a b18c1. This motor is just one step under the type r motor b18c5 (Acura Integra Type r, the ones you can get in america) and can be very dangerous in civic hb, due to there light weight. i know a kid that has one but has been bored to a 2.2 and has a couple of other internal goodies. No turbo or nitrous and runs low 13s. The cars can launch very good with nice sticky tires. the cars also have good top end and bottom end thanks to that nice little vtec. But to some it all up, he will probaly get you off the line but once you get going it a drivers race! Good luck and have fun!

like i said, most cars i seen with GSR's with cams and good tune, bolt ons will do mid higer 13's at 100-102mph.. some hit lower 13's on slicks

mild bolt on aka exhaust only GSR is close to 185-190hp on motor i would believe. up from the stock 170hp crank rating.

cams and tuning will get them up over 200whp. in a 2000lb car thats pretty dangerous.
