Camaro vs. Lexus

Ok so i was driving down a main road in my favorite place to cruise (its *****ville here) and i see some lexus with blacked out rims so i get on it a little bit to catch up. Well i catch up and proceed to ask him what he's got under the hood, he says "its a 6" and i ask what mods he has done to this machine and i get no answer. well i speed up a little and he comes past me doing a mini *****-flyby full out not going much faster than me. Then i shove my pedal to the floor and leave him behind. He turns off and i turn around. I'm going down the same street now just in the other direction. I stop at a red light he ends up next to me, his passenger says "Do you uh wanna race?" i said "why not?" so the light turn green too fast and he points at the next light, we speed up to catch it and we stop and get ready to run. The light turns green and i have a little bit of a delayed reaction on this launch but i hear his car rev up and lift his front end and launch on me. Well i will have none of that. I pedal my 350 out of the hole to avoid spin then i mash it to the floor, i go right on by him and keep on pulling until 60. By 60 i had about 2-3 lengths on him. After the race i'm doing 30 in a 40 and he's not catching up, he's driving the loser speed (slower than the winner so he doesn't have to talk to the winner ) This was last week i just didn't have a chance to post it. And i had my camera but my passenger didn't know how to use it. I'm pretty sure the Lexus was a 00'-04' GS 300 or an ES 300.

My favorite is the "loser speed and turn".

Thats where they slow way down so they dont have to pull up next to you, then they swerve off all reckless onto a side street. My favorite...

Re: Camaro vs. Lexus

Ya man idk why all the kids want a 6cyl that cant produce any hp really with out any power adders thats the only how they can get any power and to me turbos, superchargers, and nos is a form of cheating to me thats only me though. Ya i know that i have a slow car for now but atleast i dont talk like my car is fast lol. But thats awsome race it sounded like keep me posted with any more.

Re: Camaro vs. Lexus

yea i don't think NOS is fair either, my friend has a 94' Acura Integra stock block with a super charger, yea thats right a supercharger.. he talks all high about it, i wanna run him to shut him up but he won't race me... and the other day i ruined an eclipses day lol he passed me doing a ***** flyby and he passed an S10 in front of us so i had to wait cause there was another car in the lane (he just barely made it himself) so i nailed it and passed the S10 and came up on him real fast doing about 120 and he gave the wave of defeat and slowed back down to 55mph. I love doing that

That's where all our tuner boys hang out too. lol. 11pm-3am they are all sitting outside wal-mart towards the far parking spaces sitting on their hoods talking and waiting for people to race.... but of course the day all us muscle guys went up there, the cops had told them to move out. lol. (One of the guys that hangs out there is my neighbor's boyfriend and I give him hell about him driving a Civic lol)

Nice kill. Keep it up. Just don't get caught lol

Superchargers produce real HP hence it is NOT cheating. NOS is not real HP hence, cheating.

However if playing in a cheaters world, do as the cheaters do. The question is still up there for discussion on turbos aka hairdryers.

Have you ever heard the expression, "shut the f@#k up when grown folks are talking!"? Well, it plays into this.

They hang out there cause us grown folks can go and do what we want when we want and we can pay the cover at the door, get a wrist band, and show a REAL ID. They hang out there cause children aren't allowed in areas where grown folks congregate and their mommies and daddies won't allow their rice trash friends to hang out at their respective homes.

I notice that this Wal-mart phenomenon runs rampid in every state; county. However, nobody mentioned Denny's.....another fine riceboy establishment between 11pm-3am.

A supercharger pushes fuel & air (oxygen) in to create more hp....NOS introduces an extra type of fuel & oxygen, but cheaper $ per hp....How is NOS cheating?

It's just a cheaper method of producing hp.

its technically not real hp i guess, you don't have it all the time... run out of NOS and there goes that extra power....

How do you define "real" then? 100% on demand?

I've found, of that those who hate NOS, are those who have spent thousands of dollars & then lost to a guy who spent $500...."He cheated. He used nitrous." It seems that they are just upset at losing to a guy who spent less money to win.

i'm not one to support NOS, its easy HP any idiot can win with NOS, shows your not a real gearhead if all you put on a car is NOS like some of these kids do. and to those of you who mod extensively and use NOS at the track this was not aimed towards you.

Spoke by a guy who, apparently, has lost to a nitrous euipped car...Let's face. Nitrous is a cheap, fast way to add hp.

With today's gas prices, you can drive around with a"cheaper" tune....better mpg, then add hp when you need/want it (race time).

Re: Camaro vs. Lexus

if you drive a 350 GTA you shouldn't be worrying about gas prices too much either, and no i havn't lost to a NOS equiped car. Thats stupid, i want all my HP all the time, not a half *** way and just inject stuff into my motor. Plus nitrous isn't exactly easy on your motor.

Re: Camaro vs. Lexus

I didnt mean for a big thing over saying that its just if a 100 hp car came up to me and hit like a 200 shot and kills me its kinda stupid to me. Thats just me though. If someone beat me with strait up power i would have more respect for them.

If a car with 100hp hit a 200 shot, there likely wouldn't be anything left of the engine.

I prefer forced induction over nitrous, and I love the sound of a roots type blower even though I think a turbo is more efficient. But the old adage, "If Bottles are for Babies why are you crying" is most definitely true. Nitrous adds power, you can't deny the truth of the matter.

Also, when getting into extremly large shots of nitrous its not just plug and pray, you gotta do some math and make sure you add enough fuel somehow or things will get messy.

Re: Camaro vs. Lexus

Ya i understand i just wont put nos or turbo on my car. If i had to do one i would go with a super charger b/c i heard their more reliable. I say lets let this end about the power adders and give it up for this guy that won a race!

Re: Camaro vs. Lexus

Hey, I don't really care. I think people can do what they want but I understand the belief that NOS is not real HP. It's on demand HP.

Like I said earlier, when playing in a cheaters world do as the cheaters do. Personally I think they are all HP, it's just three different means of getting there. Some people believe turbos are real HP. Some don't because of turbo lag. Superchargers are on all the time, no lag and must be finely tuned. Like v10viper04 said, run out of NOS, run out of power. Whatever, we're all adults. Make up your own minds.

The Lexus IS350 is a 6cyl and it hits 60mph in 5.2 seconds... 306 hp...

With today's gas prices, you can drive around with a"cheaper" tune....better mpg, then add hp when you need/want it (race time).
I'd love Nitrous if it could REALLY be on-demand.. Like push a button from inside the car on-demand. I don't think most races on the street are planned. It's when a Mustang GT pulls up next to you at a light that you need the extra power from Nitrous. In most cases (for me) anyway.

Re: Camaro vs. Lexus

there is no way the lexus i ran had 306 hp or anything over 250 hp, i walked him pretty good so it had to be a lexus with around 200hp. I'm not gonna say i walked a lexus with 306 hp b/c then i would be an LT1/LS1 killer and i'm not.

How is nitrous not on-demand? Nitrous is button activated.

Get a remote bottle opener, and there is no need to get out to open the bottle. Other than the few extra seconds to open the bottle & purge the line...Lose the first race off the bottle & line up for another run...

I was gonna take a run with an Infinity G35, but we never did. I don't know anybody with a Lexus to run.

Everyone to their own....

Considering that the average "built" 350 on the street is lucky if it has 300hp, I have a lot more respect for someone who realizes they don't know **** about engine parts and takes the smart (or easy) way out and sticks a nitrous kit on their car. Take a 15.0 car add 100hp and it will run in the 13's...

I look at it as an insurance policy - you want to go faster once in a while and remain streetable, add a 150hp nitrous hit.

Re: Camaro vs. Lexus

The Lexus you beat was Probably an IS300. Those are pretty damn slow. Now for the nitrous issue...Nitrous is cool if it's on a built engine. I personally think you should do some engine work first before slapping a nitrous kit on it though. At the drag strip I don't see it as cheating or any different than a turbo, SC or a built NA engine. But on the street, it's illegal to have it connected so if you were following the law you wouldn't ever be able to use it. even then, I'd rather my horsepower be on tap with my right foot, rather than by a trigger or switch. Not to mention I don't like my horsepower to run out either.

yeah but so is street racing, speeding, and lighting up the tires.yet it's so much fun. but if your still worried then hide it in the spare tire well seeing how the man doesn't ever ask you to pop the hood ( to spot the solenoids)and I've had my vehicle searched a few different times.
I can also understand that's it's better to have HP always there, motor only but to get a extra 100 HP prob ally means a top end kit @ about $2,000 or you can get the spray at about $500. seeing how most of us can't find our money trees it's just easier on the wallet to hook up the bottle, heck I wouldn't mind a NOS system if I didn't need to drive 50-60 miles round trip to get it filled, even if i did take the minivan (gets the best MPG out of all the vehicles) it still would be around $12 in gas plus the price of a fill which i have no clue on what it would cost.
even if the sky was the limit I'd have biggest small block I could put in there with a turbo/supercharged and I'd still use the spray, you know to help get of the line quicker. o'well i can atleast dream
