173 and still pulling fairly hard, based on rpm and gear ratio, on 45 south at 2:30am, t-tops off with a buddy in the car, VERY stupid, but fun, never need to do it again though

130 with L03 stock could have went more but road was getting hilly and whoa that was a thrill going over some nice size hills got my heart pounding felt worse than a roller coaster

theres a small town tweny odd miles from where i grew up. it had a game warden we called ranger rick and we called the sherrif "ROSCO"! cause he was always good for a chase.you could actuly olutrun him in a vw bug cause the "vic" had a V6 that had 200,000+ on the meter. i was 16 with a 71 chevelle . roller cammed 427BB,4speed, 3.31 posi! never got caught!!

in my 83 bird this happened a few times....and yes its nerve rattling!

my 85 trans am was different though....felt more planted with ground efx's.....

now my 92....i cant wait to see what see feels like next spring.......100% brand new suspension all around. Guy that owned the car before me told me he loved the car and felt like a road legal go-kart lol

That happened with my 87 Grand National. Around 135-140ish, it got real scary. Running a 'Vette down the highway and the car was just floating. There was a very good reason those cars had a 124mph limiter...

welcome to aerodynamics. Ground effects = downforce = less floating = better handling and control at speed

OK I'll show my age here! When I was a teenager I had a 70 Challenger 340/ 4spd. The car would do the same thing above 120mph, I had it up to 140, real scary wandering all over the place. What can I say I was a stupid kid.
That's why I like my 91Z, it's stable at speeds, yes those ground fx really do work....

well i know groundfx do work on race cars. but in some case's oem stuff will fall a little short of the objective. case in point; i think my 82z lower air dam is buckeling under and dumping air under the car instead of going over or around it creating the lifting problem. cracked paint on the end is a dead give away. oh,and i have not hit anything with it either. oh and the 71 chevelle had a moog stock car (ARCA) suspension & goodyear blue streaks! CRAZY FAST!

Coming home to see the gf one night. I didnt know i was going that fast till i heard a clicking noise, looked down and my needle was slapping the trip button. had to take a pic. crazy teenager. wont be doing that again

and this is a "stock" 305tpi. i still call it stock. made my own intake, flowmaster, 22lb injectors. stock 700r4 and 2.73 10 bolt posi. 245/60/15's in the back. 4th gear around 4000rpm if i remember correctly. with the given gears and tire size i remember calculating a top speed around 190 at redline

well, i raced it on 27 from a 50ish roll, we know how that works on TPI cars (although i didnt at the time and was horrified...) so i gave up, thinking somethign was wrong with the car. We turn onto 98, and they are way infront of me, so in a fit of teenage stupidity (probably because my g/f and best friend where in the car with me and making fun of my camaro) i floored the pedal and got up to about 100 to catch up with them, and yes, it was a v6 :'(... but it was fun...

I was racing a Lexus SC430 and the guy didn't know how to drive, I weaved through some traffic, got into the wide open left lane and floored it, hit 120, the governor limit, and held it right around there, I didn't want it to kick in. I came over a hill and saw a couple sitting under the overpass, smashed the brakes and changed lanes, got radar'd at 103 in a 55. Luckily I was going into the Navy, and my recruiters went with me to court, and it got lowered to 80 in a 55 with a $1 fine.

Btw, it was a 92 RS with a stock 305TBI.

fast ive gone is 85mph with my 3.1l auto. i havent had time or really wanted to open it up. plan to break a 100mph this spring before i sell it.

I topped out the speedo in my 92 Z awhile back before I decided that the damn thing wasn't worth my time.

was it a 05+ mustang...i might believe that(from a roll..not digg)....but -04 v6 no way..your car aint runnin right then...thats not b/c its TPI

i hope nothing is wrong with my car, lol, it was a 4th generation mustang, and I'm assuming it was a v6, i didnt see any GT badges... But there was a 03 GT reving his engine at me last month, i didnt race him, but from watching him gun it, i could swear i would have taken him from a dig...

got my 92 RS 3.1 v6 up to 113 before the car tells me i'm stupid. cuts off but is still pulling. thinking about getting a chip to get around the VSS. also got my moms camry(v6) to 137 before it cut off.

well back when i first got mine i decided to go out on the highway and its only a 85mph but it will keep going around.....with half a carb, 3.73 gears and a 5 speed(stock with just 78,000 miles) i hit 135 and then casually slowed down..i think thats not bad for a 305.....but that was a while ago and could have kept going but with half a carb it wasn't going to max out anytime soon.
got a couple more mods now so i should easily beat that.

95mph with my 90 RS with a v6. tranny slips bad now its in the garage... going to put a 350 in it, im sick of going slow.

How many of you are running the 700r4 with 3-4 WOT enabled? I'm curious how much the 700r4 could actually handle in overdrive at WOT. Not that I'll be going that fast all the time, but its one of the deciding factors between me sticking with my 700r4 or switching to the T-56.

i hit 115 then the mph drops it hits the limiter which i hate and will be gone when the 350 carbed goes in.

buried 140 speedo with old set-up and did it mid way through 5th with 2nd combo in the gta

had the 98' up 130ish one time

and buried speedo on the busa once too .... that was a little scary

Lol. I know a girl in Riverside, CA, and sometime in the future I'm taking my 92 RS down there to meet up with her. Long trip and something tells me that I'm going to try to make GREAT time (wink, wink), this girl is FINE!!! Lol. Worth driving 130+ for!

I haven't been past 85 in my car, I don't want to crash it! Lol, next year I'll do a top speed run.

Yeah for sure. I got some modding going on this year, headers, lt1 cam, tune, open element intake, and TBI mods. Should be around 220hp when I'm done, when I come down we'll have to set up a race and then we'll go crush some ricers!


I hear the cops down there are really hard on street racing though.

I dont know what kind of numbers im pushing, but my car with the given mods has beat my friends stock 88 gt by a car length. back before my custom cold air and new injectors, he walked me from both roll and dig. now on a launch i eat him by a few cars till the tpi runs out of breath. after that we stay even (him behind me by a car length)

Wow, not bad man. I hope I don't get pulled over either! How many miles on your car? Mine has 125k. Looks like it has way less though. I also replied to the post in the 305 vs. Celica and Silverado.
