Short video of the LT1 doing 0-80

I don't really have that many video's of it from inside the car. So I figured since the entire drivetrain is getting ripped out for a heads/cam/6spd project i should get some.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature...&v=nvHViBp6e8A

The first run is only part throttle up to about 40mph, after that I roll into it full throttle.

The 2nd run is still a gentle roll-on, though I do reach full throttle by 30mph. But its still not a hard hit.

Sounds good!

...what do you estimate she'll do this next time around with the extra goodies?

oh, and whats the differences again between a B body and F body LT1? head material, right?

Head material, and a smaller cam more suited to the heavier B-bodies (~4200lbs curb weight).

The heavier heads only drawback is its compression and weight. But the iron is better at keeping heat in the combustion chamber so the lower compression is negated somewhat. All in all the biggest drawback is the weight of the heads, and the small duration cam.

the Power calculators estimate that the car is making about 320-330hp, which isn't bad considering it was rated at 260hp out of the factory so an extra 60-70hp isn't bad for bolt-ons.

As for what it should do? Cam only 6spd cars that use the the camshaft I'm using typically make trap anywhere between 109 to 112mph depending on their weight.

My intake, TB, and heads are all being ported and gasket matched. If the they all work together as the porter says I should be looking at anywhere from 380 to 400rwhp. Personally I'd be happy with 370 to the wheels. Thats enough to get me in trouble.

The rest of the car is not ready for that kind of abuse yet. There are plenty of things that need to be upgraded to match the more powerful engine.

I've heard GM spent more time on the cast heads and they outflow the aluminum LT1s.

only slightly. The ease of work when porting the aluminum heads negates that though. And the increased compression and weight loss is worth more.

Sounds like it's going to move out!

Are you doing the tuning yourself? Lt1's use HP tuners, correct?

A guy back in NC had an iroc with a cam'd LS1, put about 360ish to the wheels through a yank, and did mid 11s IIRC.

My car will not do 11's. I do not have the suspension mods, tire, or axle capable of handling that kind of launch. And it will be a 6spd too.

If I'm lucky I'll squirrel it down the track somewhere in the high 12's with a trap speed more suited for the 11's.

I just got a bunch of pics of the heads, and they are being flowed today. Once I get those #'s i'll have a better idea of what kind of power I will likely be looking at.
